I told my friend how I had 2 speeches done and an idea for a 3rd and the requirements for the AA and BS Psychology classes on a flash drive. she said " Wow your ahead of the game for sure."

I know that's a positive comment but IMO it's a silly one. Being literal&serious what "game?" IMO College isn't a game! It's something to be taken VERY Seriously. I also think it's great I'm "ahead of the game" with 2 speeches done and the AA/BS Psychology stuff on a flash drive. What are your thoughts on the comment? Yes it was a nice comment and I liked it etc. but just wanted to know if maybe some of you viewed the comment slightly how I view it. Kind of silly way of seeing it but that's just how I am LOL!

Your first instinct was correct. It is a supportive comment. Disregard the rest.

Life is a game. You've got to play, or get off the field.

It's just an expression. She wasn't implying that your work wasn't serious.

I hate "expressions" NT and there lingo/expressions etc. It's so foreign LOL! I know she meant it as a nice comment I've heard it before but when you analyze it IMO College isn't a "game" and IMO life shouldn't be a game it should be something you take seriously especially college.

The use of the word "game" to refer to something that is serious is as old as Shakespeare. He used the phrase "the game is afoot" in one of his plays (can't remember which one) to refer to something pretty serious. And even he was doubtless using a meaning that was common and everybody seeing the play would understand. Lots of words have multiple uses and have for hundreds of years. "Game" is one such word.

It's just an expression. A figure of speech. A positive one. It just basically means you're doing better than most others currently are.
