Also, why? If you could only visit only one of these for the rest of your life, which would it be?

My favorite would probably be zoos, since every visit is different. Apes and monkeys are my favorites. If I had to choose only one to visit the rest of my life, it would be museums, since there is a lot of variety between museums.

I have been to the Monterrey Bay Aquarium, Sea World, the San Diego Zoo, the San Diego Wild Animal Park, and various museums and planetariums. Of these, the Monterrey Bay Aquarium was the most impressive.

You don't have a 'none of the above' option. I prefer horticultural places and historic buildings. A castle with a nice garden is my heaven.

Thanks for the feedback. I would say the closest to what you described would be museums (historical buildings.) What would be an example of a horticultural place? An arboretum?

I prefer museums because they arouse my interest more than zoos. Plus, there usually aren't any noisy, excitable children running amuck in museums.

Actually, I find all those places interesting, but prefer museums and beautiful gardens, without too many people about. Also, if I could only visit one of these for the rest of my life, I would pick arboretums or gardens.

Seeing wild animals stuck in concrete pits isn't my idea of a good time. >.<

There's a Science Museum here that I go to every so often. My favorite is the mummy exhibit. :D

The Indianapolis Children's Museum is so much fun! There is a little chute you can slide down at the mummy exhibit.

Museums and Planetariums. They're less crowded. If I had to choose only one, it would be planetariums.

I like aquariums; they are kept at cool temperatures and it is a bit darkened. Zoos are sensory overload waiting to happen. I actually have to go to one sometime this month for my Biology class.
I would like to see the La Brea Tar Pit, which I believe counts as a museum?

I do have mixed feelings about most zoos. Some zoos help endangered species remain viable. I have also visited sanctuaries for animals which would otherwise have been destroyed. The San Diego Wild Animal Park was amazingly close to a real nature preserve for the animals. It also had beautiful gardens.

My wife and I love our local children's museum. Hands on science shouldn't only be for children. No one seems to mind.

I have a strong preference for planetariums. I've always enjoyed going to the planetarium, when I was in Elementary School.

I prefer museums and planetariums because they are air conditioned and don't smell like animal crap, but I still like going to zoos and aquariums as well. And it is cooler to see the animals alive and moving around rather than stuffed and posed.
