I've just sort of noticed that school is counter-intuitive. This is at least in my case. They discourage any type of inquisition. That's disguised as an inappropriate question. School has substantially negated the natural human instinct of trial and error. Any error is bad and must be disciplined. I understand that we should at least have a rudimentary knowledge of the world around us, but, the entire concept of "education" is uneven. Instead of focusing on whether your homework is completed or not, they should ask whether you feel like you've actually covered the topic. Obviously, there's going to be kids with no ambition. They should put these kids in a room and teach them manners then let them go live on the streets. That would leave kids that want to learn. I certainly want to learn, go to college and get my degree in something. Subconsciously, I get bored then decide to relieve my bored by acting out. If what the teacher was teaching actually engaged our brains and interested us, we wouldn't act out. We also wouldn't act out if the teachers focused on teaching, not disciplining students. Teachers like to bully students. I've heard a million times that they would be a teacher if they didn't want to teach people. I think that the teachers did at one point, but don't enjoy it anymore. They just keep the job because it's hard to get a new one now. Mentioned in my other posts, I've been suspended for either no reason, no clear reason, a stupid reason or a reason that could have been prevented in the first place. I'm all for learning with a couple of other friends that have ambitions. The schools are right on about that. They just need to take a different approach at what they're trying to do. Is there any ways you guys have of just coping with school? Just a couple of sentences.

The 'ambitionless' kids are often acting ambitionless out of boredom, they dont always stay that way they do grow up

All pretty accurate observations, Jake. School was a colossal waste of my life.

I recommend that you try to do something constructive when you are bored. I wouldn't like you to mess up your future because you're acting out. I used to just sit quiet and draw whenever I was bored, which was 90% of the time. I recommend meditation, especially if boredom also causes you agitation or discomfort.

It gets easier if you can get onto a good college course that you are interested in, so think of the long term goal.

Yes. I would guess you can easily complete the required work placed in front of you, Jake, so just do that while going on beyond on your own. Let each teacher do what s/he must in order to get a paycheck, but then also watch for the teacher who will notice your greater interests and goals and who will possibly help you along a bit.

Those kids are acting that way, because they have nothing better to do, with their time.

Yes. I didn't go...or rarely anyway, until college.

But I took the initiative to learn myself.

I was a dayboy at a boarding school (I lived a short walk away). The school day was from 8:30am until 9:00pm, and we had school on Saturdays as well. Count yourself lucky, my friend.

Anyway, for the last few years of school, I coped by going home after lessons had ended, skipping all the extra stuff that we were meant to be doing, like sports, supervised study times, assemblies, etc. It was technically truancy, but I think of it as the opposite, as I came into school for all my lessons and then skipped the rest. Nobody called me on it, so either they didn't realise (which I doubt), or they didn't bother me because I was still showing up and doing well in all my classes and getting all my work done.

Once I finished my last finals exam, I walked straight home and didn't even return to pick up my stuff.

I somewhat enjoy the dictatorship-feel of it all.
