Do you think famous people like to read about themselves and search for pieces of information about themselves on the net? Some time ago I read someone's comment under some net article in which that person said about some thing being just as unlikely as a politician reading what people wrote about them in online discussions, which comment surprised me, making me ask why politicians or any other well known people wouldn't be likely to be curious what people can think about them. I, at least, would love to read board discussions on myself, and you? If I tracked a board devoted to myself, I would instantly register there to discuss stuff with my fans (or haters). My favorite Polish writer is active on fantasy boards where she willingly participates in discussions with those who enjoy her novels.

I am sure they do. I've watched interviews where they have, and decided never to again.

Depends on what kind of fame, I guess. I've seen authors and musicians and similar people do that. I was once quite (happily) surprised when one of my favourite authors commented on a positive review I made on some other board! But I think with many famous people they don't have the opportunity and the inclination to spend time searching teh interwebs for themself, or reading gossip columns or whatever; if they're going to find out what people think of them they'll find out in person, if they're in politics and/or if they spend time on chat shows or celeb get-togethers and similar sorts of hellhole.

Apparently Carlos Mencia likes to read the nasty things people say about him online, about he supposedly steals his materal from other comedians, but he doesn't respond.
Seriously, that's what Joe Rogan says about him.

I wonder if any of my favorite celebs (Johnny Depp, Tim Burton, Helena Bonham Carter, Crispin Glover, Mia Wasikowska, Anne Hathaway) read stuff online about themselves? It'd be really cool if any of them were secretly members on this site, though I'm sure they're so busy making films that they don't have time to browse forums about autism. :P

I may be seriously over generalizing, but jobs that bring fame like acting, singing, and the like attract a certain type of person... one that is emotionally unstable and seeking outside validation.

So yeah, I think most of them do check themselves out online.

Who knows, I like to know what people think of me but if I was rich, famous and had to work a job with a lot of hours with as much as 4 of those a day being just makeup I'd spend every ounce of my free time working on cars in my 70F 60 car garage listening to my favorite music on the nicest speakers money could buy. Hell I'd probably pay people who I know didn't suck live to perform. in my awesome rich dude garage.

It's like why give a damn anymore? I'm rich b***h! If I need to get some attention I can show up at a nice bar and buy everyone a round of drinks and leave 15 minutes later rather than messing with google, facebook, etc for a while.

I bet, that as soon as they read all the bad stuff, that people wrote about them, that they decide not to read about themselves, anymore.

The strange thing about being yourself is that you always know your own business. A check in the mail lets them know that people like them I doubt a large percentage of them scour the internet for positive reviews and fansites on their actions(of course I'm not saying there isn't the odd individual that isn't so egotistical that they need confirmation of their status 24/7)

Its very rare for someone in the public eye to see whats out there on the net about them, unless its looking for somethign specific. I know my ex who was an actress avoided it like the plague and from personal experience the spouses of those people tend to avoid forums especially, yeah the person is in the public eye but reading post after post of strangers fantasies and the "i love you" posts is stressful in the extreme.

I wouldn't ever avoid it myself, I would LOVE to read what others would be writing on me :D
