I have run into a bit of a dilemma recently. Long story short, I work at a restaurant in the UK 7 miles from home. I don't drive, so on the occasions where I cannot get public transport like trains or buses home, I call my mother to come pick me up, since I live with her and my siblings.

Over Christmas and New Year, I am working a few shifts where I am having a problem getting to or from home. Because it is Christmas, my mum doesn't want to come and get me, as she would rather be able to do her own thing instead.

My issue is that if she doesn't come get me, I have to resort to a taxi to get me home. Now this isn't a big deal on the single instances where I would be getting a taxi, but in the Christmas week, I would need to get a taxi 5 times! At £16-22 per journey, that is amounting to £77 in total. Also, I don't get a lot of money in from this job, a little over £95 per week. That's most of my money for that week gone...

If my mum were to pick me up each of those times, it would cost her £11 in fuel. 7 times less than getting taxis, all because she doesn't want to pick me up.

To top it off, she claims that I shouldn't be wasting my money, and that I should be saving it up; yet then she tells me to get a cab instead of asking her to pick me up, because she would then be working... (for the record, it is a 25 minute 14 mile round trip to come and get me, less than half an hour.)

Any thoughts??
