Has anyone ever read a book or watched a movie and suddenly recognized a character as an undiagnosed Aspie or Autistic?
This happened to me when I was looking for a book for a young relative. The book Incident at Hawk's Hill is a "slightly fictionalized version of an incident which actually occurred" near Winnipeg in 1870. The story is about a boy who is adopted by a female badger when he is lost out on the prairie. Six-year-old Ben, is a shy boy who rarely talks to people although he seems to intuitively understand animals. He spends most of his time observing and emulating their behavior, to the consternation of his father who doesn't understand why Ben is "always going off by himself somewhere, all quiet and acting sort of frightened of us all the time, instead of joining in with the family when we do things".
