Hi, I was just wondering why it is that a lot of NTs- most NTs that I've met at least, seem to be so defensive and confrontational with when it comes to arguments and getting involved in other people's melodrama?

I'd like to know what you think because I personally as an Aspie find that I try to avoid confrontation, and I know of another Aspie that avoids it, too...anyway, please let me know about your views on this. :)

Perhaps they are more focused on humans in general.. they find other peoples' soap opera type events to be more fascinating than most things, and they are obsessed with themselves and so are more uptight and sensitive about their self-image.

I thought confrontational and defensive were more or less opposite...that said I am rather defensive actually quite defensive at times since I am kinda paranoid about peoples intentions and such, but not very confrontational.

No, people are often defensive and aggressive simultaneously.

I see, I guess I am just already on the defensive so I certainly don't want to start any confrontations.

I hate it when people make generalisations.

Well,Sylkat is going to generalize...I think that most NTs are more comfortable with emotions than most Aspies. MOST!
I think that we are sort of shy about emotions, and a Little goes a long way with us, that is why many of us are unsure about eye contact and hugs and holding hands and raised voices

As they are perfectly happy in a typically emotional situation, they seem amused to the point of delight when emotions run out of control; entertaining drama to them, but embarrassing and upsetting to us.
Generalizing, of course, but that's my opinion....

I'd say they tend to feel involved with people around them more, so they take things personally because their identity is dependent on the group.

I find that everyone can get like that at some point in their lives. I don't like to make harsh generalizations about people though, because I don't like it when people do it to me.

Sorry. I didn't mean to generalize, but I was just judging from experience; I just wanted to know if that's the way other have know NTs to be...thanks for your opinion, though. :)

I think I should rephrase this question... :)

...maybe, instead...

"Why do a lot of NTs seem to come across to others as 'defensive' or 'confrontational'?
