i opened a big can of vegetable/beef soup, and dumped it out in the dish, and saw that it was chock full of the most disgusting schmutz and grotzel- big honking lumps of gristle and greazy slimy yellow globules floating atop the soup and stuck to the lid. BLEAGH!
since i cannot afford to just throw out otherwise edible food, i subjected the mess to some tweezer and knife surgery, dissecting the fat and gristle from the useable meat, and tossing the rough stuff out the window into the bushes for the animals to fight over. to avoid legal trouble i won't mention the brand name other than to say it starts with J and is the female version of a common spanish first name.

eating at the space needle [seattle] one year ages ago, i was served my selection of salmon-stuffed codfish. [or was it cod-stuffed salmon?] anyways, it tasted mealy to me, so my sister tried it and spit it out, saying it was RAW! so the head waiter came to our talbe and inspected it and said, yes indeed it was raw, so sorry, we will give you another than has been cooked well-done. and they did, but by that time i had lost my appetite.

anybody else here wanna share their bad-food tales of bleagh?

I was eating cereal one morning back when I was around the age of 5 and I got the milk and poured it into my cereal. I took a bite and... It was buttermilk. Which is SO nasty! And there was another incident that occured at that same age. I wanted some root beer so I went out to our garage and grabbed a can that said "Beer" and I figured it said "Root" where I couldn't see so I drank a little of it and it was nasty! I don't even remember swallowing it. Now I learned something because of those times. Read the ENTIRE label.

I used to play football. We would practice in the morning then take an hour off for lunch before going out for the afternoon practice. Since we had little time and wanted to eat something light, we would all hit up a "quickie" mart for sodas and junkfood to get quick energy bursts. At the time, lots of players used smokeless tobacco and would use empty bottles and cups as spittoons. Somebody placed theirs next to my drink and I grabbed it and took a big gulp. I brought it right back up and down the front of my shirt. As I am sure many of you are aware, neurotypicals jocks find stuff like that to be absolutely hilarious. I spent the afternoon practicing in 90 F heat on the verge of getting sick while hearing some crudest humor at my expense that you can imagine. I never drink anything anymore without looking at it closely.

it was as though the food manufacturer had just deboned the damned cow and dumped all the rest [bone meal, hair, gristle, fat etc.] into a big hot stewing vat, and a big funnel beneath the vat just splat out the stuff into cans below.

This year, I remember eating some very nasty thing at a Chinese food restaurant that left such a bad taste in my mouth that no amount of the soda I drank could dissipate it. :x

Once at Subway, they gave me a carton of milk that had expired three days earlier.

Once when I was cooking with my then-girlfriend, she opened a tin of sweetcorn and there was a maggot (or at least some maggot-like creature) in it, measuring about three centimeters which is a bit more than an inch! *yuck*

Needless to say, the sweetcorn did not make it into the dish we were preparing and we checked all our sweetcorn tins very thoroughly for some time after that incident...

I open my milk and pour it in my cereal and I see a chunk come out. I pour the cereal in the trash and have something else. The next day I had my husband smell the milk and had him pour it in a cup and more chunks also came out. he said it was sour and it wasn't even past the sell date yet. So he dumps it out in the sink and then it smells. I once bought some milk from a super market and it was already spoiled and it wasn't even past the sell by date yet. We had this happen to us about three times. So we don't buy milk anymore that is near the sell by date.

My mom once bought applesauce at Costco and she opens them and there is mold at the top and bacteria growing and she takes it back.

On one of our trips when I was 14, mom buys a huge roll and it had a piece of mold on it so she took it back inside.

When I was 18, I was going home from a track meet and we stop at a gas station and this boy on my track team buys a Crunch candy bar and he opens it and it's all stale.

When I was 18 or 19, about three times had my parents and I ate at the hotel resort that had a restaurant there and they were having a sea food buffet. I eat it and I get sick that night. Mom said it was just a coincidence. But when we went again, the same thing happened and after three times I decided I will never eat sea food again since it makes me sick literally. Even their fish made me literally sick. I think they put something on their food that was too rich for me. But I am still not eating sea food ever again and I will only eat fish.

When a Burger King opened up near me in Montana, I sometimes found hair in my hamburger. I would just pull it out and keep eating it. The place shut down two years after it had opened. There were rumors about no one knew why they closed and one of my brother's friends said it shut down due to poor management. Well the floor was always sticky and the floor was always dirty in the back and the restrooms were always dirty and there be hair in your food. My mom thinks maybe the BK cooperation shut them down because they got too many check marks so they took away their franchise. They do inspect their restaurants. Plus they could have gotten complaints from customers about that restaurant.

when i was a little kid i went to a neighborhood ice cream shop, and i asked for a blue ice sherbet, and the teenaged clerk scooped up some of the blue stuff and attempted to deposit the ball of icecream onto the top of a cone, but he fumbled, and the ice cream ball fell upon the dusty floor- in front of me, and god and everybody else, he reached down with his bare hands, picked up the dusty ice cream ball and stuck in onto the cone and handed it to me as though there wasn't anything wrong with what he just did. my dad said, "i don't think so...." and we walked out of the place.

One time, while staying with my aunt and uncle,my aunt made southern fried chicken..all I can recall is vomiting it up and never eating chicken again. Have had consistent headaches after eating cheese, which actually afflicts my (a different aunt) aunt as well. I cannot abide the smell of meat, having been vegetarian for twelve years and non fish for three. If someone sits down and eats meat within five feet of me,extreme nausea overcomes me and I resist giving the evil eye but flee instead.

A couple of years, I've ordered a breakfast bagel at Wal-Mart McDonald's, and the bottom half of the sandwich was mouldy.

i just opened a box of instant rice, and found it had creepy crawly things wrapped in webbing nesting inside of the box and resting among the grains of rice. but i needed to eat and i couldn't afford to just throw it out, nor was i willing to drive an hour into town to complain about it and get another. so i just shrugged and got out the tweezers and surgically removed the offending extraneous protein, and cooked the remainder and ate it.
