`why is it that mushrooms depicted in many children's programs/animations/pictures are aminitas (the red or orange ones with white spots)?

Do they realize that aminitas are among the most potent hallucinogenic mushrooms out there?

Could be because of their striking and distinctive look. Either that or they want to encourage children to open their minds with reality bending entheogens.

The appearance of them catches the eyes of children.

bah. If visual appeal was the concern, they'd pick a bio-luminescent species.

kids love stuff that glows in the dark.

I think deep down, everyone does.

Some aminitas are also extremely deadly. I wonder how many deaths Mario has caused.

I wonder about that, as well.

Or even better, the glow in the dark nuclear mushrooms in the DMZ around Chernobyl and Pripyat.

Technically harder to do on a cartoon, or at least was before the advent of CGI.
