I'm from New England originally. I was born in Portland,ME. Spent the first two weeks of my life in South Berwick, Maine at 74 Front Street; and then settling down in Nantucket, Massachusetts where I lived until 2007.

Vermonster born and raised, for the most part. We moved away from Burlington when I was 12, but I have an enduring love of Ben and Jerry's; all things maple; and Champ, our very own Loch Ness monster. :)

Hey, I live in Portland, Maine! I live on the the illustrious (lol) East End. I must say, the Atlantic is beautiful, but I do miss the mountains. But I've got a great view of the bay from most of my windows!
I was born in Claremont, NH.

Tech school? My sister went there, probably a few years before you though.

If we're talking about Job Corps then, yeah, that was it. I went in 1995

I do believe Fogman is a native. He's not been around this forum in a couple months.

@Jedi - Yeah, Job Corps would be it. She was there around '90 or a little earlier. I'm too southernized to go back to Vermont, but I love looking at maps and all the English place names - Bristol, Rutland, Colchester, Essex... :)

If you look out Back Bay on a very clear day, you can see Mt. Washington.

My dad went to college in Vermont.
Speaking of New England, how bad is the storm?

15-20" for BOS and immediate vicinity.

4-7" for Cape Cod and the islands, but I doubt Nantucket will get that much. This storm reminds me of 4/1/97. The mainland got HAMMERED while we got just a trace. Even the Vineyard got 5", which is amazing.

This winter so far the south and Northeast get slammed but the mid Atlantic area gets nothing. We got a dusting and some sleet. It was ok driving out of my housing area this morning. I thought it would be too bad to even get out of house but it wasn't. We got a dusting on Dec 26th as well. Very strange winter. I do love the cold, but this weather is too cold and depressing.

Ackman where you live do they do a good job at plowing? Is your housing area streets cleared? During the Feb 2010 blizzard (back to back) it took maybe a week for VA DOT to finally come by our housing area to clear the snow and ice. It was compacted so they had to bring in bobcats to clear off the snow. VA DOT did a TERRIBLE job at clearing the snow. Our housing area doesn't have private contractor to deal with the streets. When my parents and I lived in a townhome we had a private contractor. I remember the Blizzard of 1996. I didn't have school for 2 weeks.

I part time plowed last winter. St. Charles County,MO where I currently live does a really bad job sometimes. Other times, they do a really good job. This storm that we had two nights ago they did really well. Last winter they really plowed too late.
