If dramas are your thing, a few I would recommend are:
"Paris, Texas" (English) - Wim Wenders - Quiet drama of a man making a journey to apologize to his ex-wife.
"The Decalog" (Polish) by Krzysztof Kieslowski - This is a series of 10 one hour long films, each is based on one of the 10 commandments. Some are really great.
"The Sacrifice" (Swedish, French, English) by Andrey Tarkovsky - Fearing nuclear war, a man makes a sacrifice, hoping to avert disaster.
"Army of Shadows" (French) by Jean-Pierre Melville - about moral ambiguity of resistance fighters in occupied France.
"Crimes and Misdemeanors" (English) Woody Allen film - part comedy, part ethical drama.
"Husbands and Wives" (English) Woody Allen - Everybody breaks up. Laffs ensue!
"Deconstructing Harry" (English) Woody Allen - A self involved writer is berated by the characters he writes.
"Miller's Crossing" (English) Coen Brothers - Part period gangster film, part reflection on friendship, loyalty and choices.
"Wings of Desire" (German, French, English) - Wim Wenders - Angels in Berlin struggle with the desire for mortality.
"The Battleship Potemkin" (Silent - Russian) - Sergei Eisenstein - Mistreated sailors mutiny at the beginning of the 1905 Russian Revolution.
"Citizen Kane" (English) Orson Wells - The complex life and simple death of a wealthy publisher, loosely based on W.R. Hearst.
"High and Low" (Japanese) Akira Kurasawa - Film noir. Industrialist must pay ransom for his servant's kidnapped child.
"Andrei Rublev" (Russian) Andrey Tarkovsky - Slooooowly paced film about the Russian Icon painter.
"Songs from the Second Floor" (Swedish) Roy Andersson - Really a dark comedy, but deals with how people use each other and then are haunted by their acts.
"Sweetie" (English) Jane Campion - The difficult relationship between two sisters. (Probably many Aspies could relate to this film well)
"Bliss" (English) Ray Lawrence - Based on the Peter Carey novel. An advertising executive decides he is going to "do good" Surreal comedy.
"21 Grams" (English) Alejandro González Iñárritu - Complex people struggling with tragedy and the desire for retribution.
"Million Dollar Baby" (English) Clint Eastwood - Hard to summarize without giving away the story.
"Unforgiven" (English) Clint Eastwood - Old hit men are hired to kill some men who cut up a prostitute. No one comes off looking too good here.
"In The Mood For Love" (Cantonese) Wong Kar Wai - A man and a woman discover their spouses are having an affair and fight the temptation to have an affair themselves. One of the most beautifully shot films I have seen.
