Has anybody ever visited some old forums you were formerly a member of just to view some of your old posts there? Are there any posts there that, at the time you thought were harmless, you are now haunted by?

I used to be a member of a website called Teen Spot (<-Link). I joined it when I was fourteen years old. Aside from the fact that I gave myself the awful username "moonprince", I also told everybody in my introductory thread that I cut myself. I probably came off to a lot of people there that I was some kind of depressed emo loser (which, frankly, I was at the time, but that's beside the point). That's got to be one of my worst incidents of poor judgment ever.

Now, fess up, everybody. Tell me your stories.

Let's hope that, in the future, you wouldn't consider joining this website to be a mistake.

i briefly belonged to the sound and vision website forums, until i discovered they were filled with purist legalists who would not tolerate any minority opinions.

I can't remember any stupid things I've done on other websites, but I've done plenty of stupid things on this particular website.

I've done lots of stupid things on other forums & I do some very stupid things here but I think I'm a lot better here than I used to be on other sites. I went by a psychotic SN & I used to talk about some really disturbing stuff. I have a very offensive, rude, crude, vulgar, disgusting sense of humor(think Kenny from SouthPark) I made a lot of sick jokes about sexual stuff & other things. I also made lots of post asking for advice or ranting about things & when people would reply; I would start arguments with em. It looked like I was posting because I was a troll but I was very overly analytical & discussing/debating things online helped me analyze my thoughts & sort things out; arguing was NOT my intent. I was suffering from a psychotic depression related to a break-up & I kept obsessing about it & her. The main site I went to was going true a lot of member changes; a lot of the older members were leaving & a committee was picked to approve new members. The webmaster had a very hands off approach to dealing with member disputes & wanted to let the community run itself. Clicks were formed & I was a wild-card & not part of any. I preferred the way the community used to be & I unintentionally made disputes with members worse by trying to help smooth things over. I was also a fan of the couple members who were banned. I spoke my mind a lot, spoke up about things, I was very blunt, didn't give a flying __ about being polite or tactful & I've had some very strong opinions that went against the norm. I kinda came off as a narcissistic intolerant sexist pedophile  I quit using those forums & that SN a few years ago because members started flaming all my post & were petitioning to have me banned. I'm not the same on here as I used to be online years ago but I do have some moments where I kinda slip/fall back. I think some of it's because the 1st circle of online friends I had about 9 years ago were very perverted bipolar druggies. I knew I couldn't fit in with normal people & being an @$$ was kinda kewl in that group. I lost that circle of friends for various rezones & I was really lonely & trying to seem kewl & make friends but I was going about it the wrong way. I was NOT trying to be a bad person & cause problems; it was an extremely poor adaptation to my AS & other issues.

Haha. I was an admin of a forum that's fairly new. (It's only been around since September, I joined in October and was made admin in early December.) December 14th I was bored so I deleted every post and every subforum and banned a bunch of people. I thought it was funny as hell, of course the site own did not. He banned me and said I would "regret what I did to him and TeenBay." It took him almost three days to get the forum back up, and he lost 300+ posts permanently. Hehehe.

a long time ago when i first joined a forum, i did not perceive the posters as real people, and i was younger and my oppositional defiant disorder was out of control.

i used the forum to entertain myself, and that particular forum had no code to prevent misunderstandings. if i did not like a person, i would post things that they would reply to, and then i would go back and edit my post that they replied to to make them look stupid.

there was no "edited by:" footnote that indicated i had changed my post. you could even delete entirely your posts to make it look like the person was having a psychotic argument with themselves.

an example was when someone posted their reply to the question "what would you do with a million dollars", and i responded to his post by saying that i did not believe he had the mental capacity to conceive of the size of a million, and i added that even if he bought everything his mind could imagine, then he would probably still have $999,000 change.

obviously he jumped down my throat, and he posted something like "f*ck you dickwad! if ever i find out who you are , you're dead!"

then i went back and edited my post that he aggressively replied to, and changed it to something like "if i had a million dollars i would donate most of it to help to the poor".

anyway i did not last long there.

on another forum i joined, people did not like me and thought i was stupid, so i topped all the oldest threads i could find, and i tried to look as stupid as possible.
it was in 2006, and i replied to about 50 posts from 2002 in one sitting.

for example, there was a thread from 2002 titled "i am terrified about my job interview tomorrow", and i replied with "good luck for tomorrow".

on another thread, someone was talking about a prime minister, and i posted with "you should keep up with the news. he has been out of power for ages now"

etc etc

i had fun that night and went to bed and when i woke in the morning i was banned.

actually, i just remembered the funniest thing i ever did in a forum.

the forum was for the game "empire earth", and part of that forum was a subforum where you could upload scenario files that you designed. others would download those scenarios and play them.

one scenario i designed was very difficult for people to play, and it was designed in a way where people thought they could win it if they played hard.

the scenario started off with a character called "general piffle" and the cinematic said something like "hmmmm. now i find myself in these woods without any weapons or men, i fear that my endeavor is lost". then i had another unit (a villager) approach him and say "good sir. we can use your help if you are so inclined. we need someone of your eminence to convince the lord of the mungarai tribe to let our villagers pass so we can get timber from the woods beyond his camp".

so you click on your general and follow the villager to the lord, and then a trigger is set off that immediately allies you with the camp that the villager came from.

anyway, the story line is tedious and the general now has some villagers allied with him so they can farm for food and dig gold and build military buildings.

soon after that happens, there are some military units from the enemy that try to raid your camp, but i make sure that the smarter players would have thought of a way to prevail.

i can not explain the entire scenario here, but it takes hours to play and then when you have a huge army, and have researched them up to elite units, you feel confident that you can complete the scenario.

the last part of the scenario is where i place the objective for general piffle to enter the camp of the final enemy to talk with the chancellor. he has to enter alone because if any other military unit enters the area you will lose. another part of the scenario requirements is that general piffle must survive.

when general piffle walks into the camp, he gets stricken with malaria and dies and you lose.

there is no way to beat the scenario, and many people played it in earnest and broke their brains to try to think of the best strategies, and it was all in vain.

no one talked to me after that or downloaded my scenarios so i faded away and left.

Also 8/9 years ago I was a mod for a couple adult forums. Some of the stuff on the different forums overlapped & because I had no life & my extremely bad OCD; I kept everything organized, assisted other members & made suggestions to the admins/mods. I was having some issues offline trying to get a job & stuff & my family kept complaining because I was spending my time online instead of working. I started blaming the net for things & I decided to suddenly leave all those adult forums. I made a rushed rant post about things & then deleted my account; I feel I kinda bailed on em. I decided to leave the other forums I used rite after & I made post saying I was leaving due to my issues & bailed on em to & was ready to bail on the last forum but a girl replied to my post rite after I made it before I left & I started chatting with her. I ended up staying & after we ended up in a relationship & I fell head over heels in love with her. My personality really changed & I was making nauseating post talking about my love for her & whenever anyone would joking flirt with her or insult her I would jump in because I had the be her night in shinning armor. Forums started having lots of problems with spammers & trolls & she became a target & I kept getting into it with em. We ended up breaking up for various rezones & our relationship issues spilled into the forum like BP's oil into the golf. Forums got taken down because of all the tolls & spammers & I lost my circle of online friends & that was probably a good thing

* On the off-topic section of a videogame forum : opening a thread (with a poll) about "all specialists agree, let's start to debate : was Hitler the wife of Stalin ?"
* On the same forum : opening a thread (with a poll) about "should we start again to prosecute christianism like in the Roman Empire era ?"
* On a comic-strip forum, as an admin : in a off-topic section, an historical member was talking about the Nolan's Batman movies and said that according to him they are pieces of sh*t. I banned him for a minute long... or it is what I first thought, I made a mistake while cancelling the ban and he stayed banned for half a day

I joined an aviation website a few years ago. Got along fine until the 2008 Presidential campaign. Turns out 90% of the regulars were conservatives. I'm a moderate Democrat. There's been a civil war going on there in the off-topic forum for a while now and most of the liberals have been chased off. Those conservatives sure take their politics seriously! So much so that the liberals and moderates, who don't seem to like to argue and fight, just gave up and left. I've started a few topics only to have them turned against me...even included personal insults and cyberstalking.

I've chosen SidTheLoveRat for a username a few times in 2007 and 2008, not seeing the light at the tunnel. Why didn't I stick with CockneyRebel. I haven't outgrown my WP username, yet.

Looks like you beat me to it.

Anyways, on a semi-related note, I've done a couple of dumb things on this forum, I think. Nothing too big, though.
