I have no fashion sense, and I don’t care anything about style, but I'm very particular about what clothes I buy. I know what's "me" and what's not. I wish I had more choices so I can feel like more of an individual. Particularly for casual clothes.

I pretty much confine myself to the major chains, JC Penney, Kohls, and Boscovs. It’s always the same old same old, so I end up not buying anything new and hanging onto my old clothes for years and years.

We have Macy’s, but I don’t bother to go there anymore, cause I never find anything I like. I won’t go into the little trendy chain stores in the mall, cause they have about one wall’s worth of men’s clothes. There’s, like, two shirts to choose from! I don’t get it! Plus they play obnoxiously loud music.

I’ve never bought secondhand, just don’t like the idea of wearing someone else’s things. And I won’t shop at the Kmarts and Walmarts, too junky. That’s about all that's here, within a reasonable driving distance.

Is there anyplace I’m missing out on? Where do you go to find good stuff?

I get my clothes anywhere. But my favourite shops are charity shops because it's mostly clothes that haven't been sold for a while so I'm wearing something original. I also like shopping in primark because it's pretty cheap. But generally I just buy clothes from anywhere.

Well, my Mother usually purchases my Summer attire at a shop named Hallensteins. I am unsure where my Winter attire is purchased.

Target for the most part. I can never find anything I like or that fits at department stores. I absolutely refuse to wear any of that trendy crap.

I very rarely purchase clothing, as it is so expensive...
Hmm, well, last year shopped for clothes twice, I think.
In these stores -
http://www.morticia.com/
http://www.cybershop.fi/
Only ones I've found with clothes that look like anything I'd like.
I know there are probably many more stores with clothes like that out there, but I cba to go looking for directions and stuff.
I only discovered these stores a year or two back, and since I buy clothes so rarely - most of my wardrobe boring crap still. :(

For those who like thrift shops, can you explain the appeal? It seems like you have to know something about style. You pick something out that's unique, that you hope makes you stand out in a good way. But if your fashion sense is off, you could look kind of foolish, no?

How far back do you go in what you buy? 10 years? 20? More?

Pfft, f**k fashion sense, just pick something that appeals to you. Who cares if others think you look kind of foolish if you like it yourself.
But perhaps what I just said is pointless and you have no opinions about what looks nice when it comes to clothing. *shrug*

For me the appeal is finding unique stuff that I haven't seen in shops recently. I don't care if it looks fashionable as long as I like it, I wear clothes that I like not what everyone else approves of. My fashion sense is off and always has been, I could make that work to my advantage and think up creative outfit combinations. There's no real limit to how far back I go. Quite out-dated clothes that aren't old enough to be retro yet are what appeals to me the most, so clothes from maybe the late 90s or 2001-2003-ish.

I usually buy clothes from Walmart, Old Navy, Target and thrift stores. But if I want a shirt that relates to my special interests, I buy it from the Internet.

I buy jeans at Fleet Farm, a farm supply chain in the upper Midwest. They have to be a specific model number of Lee jeans. They're the only ones that fit the way I like...Asperger's, you know.

I receive the rest of my clothes as gifts. I stash them away until I need them. I tend to wear a limited number of clothing items and as they wear out, I raid the stash. Incidentals like socks and underwear are purchased online from JCPenney. My shoes come from Land's End.

My nursing uniform shirts are made by a friend of mine and the uniform trousers are purchased online, as are my uniform shoes and socks.

I tend to buy clothes from JC Penny, Kohls, and and occasionally Wal Mart or Target. Every now and then I'll find something good at a thrift store, and buy that, too. Most of the time, whatever I buy, it tends to be from the clearance rack; not because I'm cheap, but because the clothes there just happen to be ones I like.

I tend to wear dark and neutral colored stuff; mostly whites, blacks, browns, blues, grays, and blue- and black jeans.
