I thought it was "ceiling" wax, also, and it confirmed my secret belief that my mother was a slovenly housekeeper, since she never polished our ceilings.

I thought it was ceiling wax too, until I was probably 25 years old. lol

I also used to think it was ceiling wax.

Argh, now I get it, misheard words *slaps self*

i knew it had to be 'sealing wax' but i thought that sealing wax had something to do with shoes and ships --to keep them from leaking.

Ahh, the march of progress.

I am far too young to have ever seen sealing wax but I remember blotting paper, and white-out used to correct mistakes made on a typewriter.

And carbon paper. And mimeograph machines with a crank on the side.
And adding machines with a crank on the side.
And cash registers with a crank on the side.
And Telex machines.
And cameras that used actual rolls of film.

Oh god, I am getting so old.
