It seems pretty similar to me. But what do you think?

I've read in numerous books that AS women have a tendency to "mask" their AS by observing the way NT women interact and mimicking their behavior.

My mum does this. I didn't realise what it was until this year when I discovered AS. She's not very good at it, but she does these strange, off-kilter copies of NT behaviour. I never bothered, until recently. I always displayed my natural behaviour, for better or worse, and never thought that I could pretend to be more normal, or why I would want to.

The level of functioning is a bigger factor than gender.

I have noticed, however, that people on here only ask this question in terms of ability to find a romantic partner, rarely for anything else.

It's got more to do with severity. It also has to do with who wishes to identify with the NT world and who doesn't. I may seem more pronounced out of the people here, because I don't wish to identify with the NT world and their interests. I'm that unusual person that everybody on WP knows really well and I don't have a problem with that. I don't live in a vacuum. I can't keep myself to myself.

Since AS can affect people so differently, I don't think anyone can really answer that question. But like some others have said, I've heard the same thing about AS women mimicking NT women. I don't think it really matters who acts or seems more NT like but how AS impacts each of us.
