Last night, the rain kept me awake, and then this morning, the temperature dropped like anything you used to hold into your hands. At first, I wasn't really excited because my school district is always the last one to close, but my Abba checked the website and in big red letters, the district was closed! (That also means that all the cities in DFW are closed too, well, I don't know about Fort Worth....

Is it snowing where you are, and do they close at the sight of snow or could the world be imploding and the school would still be open?

New Orleans almost goes into lockdown when it snows. Tourists from the north are greatly confused by the excitement we get from snow. :D Schools close down and it's the top local news story all day. It's flurried here twice in my lifetime and the snow only lasts for a day.

No school (or uni) today! Thanks snow, you're the best!

Here, OK-AR-MO-KS border region, we get 1 or 2 doses of snow (4-6 inches) per winter and a nice (horrid) ice storm every few years (I was out of power for a week in 2009).

Anyways, around here there's just too many hills. Local governments don't have the budget, equipment, or will to deal with the snow/ice. Therefore, everything just comes to a halt until it melts.

6 inches of snow on top of a layer of ice + temperatures in the teens for the next few days = no school all week! This will be nice until I run out of beer... :?

Here too. Even though we're in the north, being near the ocean means the western part of our state, separated by a mountain range, gets rarely any snow, and the eastern part gets a crapload of snow. When we get 2 inches of snow here school is cancelled, and all the drivers turn to idiots and crash all the time.

Hah, seems like snow is the real epidemic here, except when it cancels school for us, P:

Over here, if it rains too much, there's an accident, and then a bunch of others from looking at the accident!!

It rains a lot here of course (it's Seattle  ) so it doesn't bother most people when driving, but most people always slow down to look at crashes and create horrible traffic.

@League_Girl: Yep, just that happened back in November when we got like 4 inches of snow.

I was about to walk in the cold when my Abba told me, "Don't open that door! Doom lays on the other side!"

As long as you didn't crash, It's allllll goooooodddd. Maybe.

It seldom snows in south Louisiana & it's more ice than snow & when it does most everything is closed down around here. It hasn't snowed here in a couple years. I actually had the AC on earlier because it's been raining here a lot today & it's very humid

I live in the DFW area, too. My college campus was closed down today because of the snow/ice/whatever it is. I'm hoping that it will be closed tomorrow, too.

I've been waiting all winter for it to snow. I hope it lasts until tomorrow. :)

I think Plano and whatnot could be closed tomorrow, but it would be a miracle if Dallas was closed two days in a row! Lets all hope for more rain and temperature dropping tomorrow.... :D

I just checked the school website and it said DISD would be closed tomorrow :D , but I don't know about the colleges.
