I just never enjoyed being outside and hanging with people.
I don't think I am autistic though.

My parents expended a great deal of time cajoling and finally forcing me to go out to play. I finally discovered that hiding behind the garage for half an hour after school reduced the pressure on everybody and I might actually be allowed to read in my room for the rest of the time before dinner.

I still feel nervous and vulnerable outside unless I have a defined role or goal. Doing yardwork is okay, provided I pretty much have to yard to myself, but sitting on the patio is not. If you change being aimless outside to being aimless outside with other people, well, it makes me nervous enough just thinking about it that I want to go deep in the house, locking doors behind me.

You might just be introverted OP. Autism/AS can be a cause/rezone someone is introverted but the majority of introverts do not have anything on the spectrum

No, but I don't feel completely comfortable with how I should respond with the unknown norms when they want to interact with me. I always feel like I come off as a little off to everyone and I feel like I disappoint some of them because of it.

I like it, I'm just awful at it though, and I have to use alcohol as a crutch for social interactions (thankfully, I don't like it enough to be addicted).

I don't go outside much either. Hardly ever - it's hard to block out my surroundings and the thought of what others may think when I actually do, but you shouldn't feel negativity to it if that's what you're content with.

It doesn't necessarily mean you're on the spectrum, though, maybe you should check if you're an introvert.

I rarely go outside too. Except when I have to.
