might have caused offence and broke forum etiquette
if I had then I apologise.

If there is nothing offensive what I did then I apologise for

I wouldn't worry about it, Sam. You can't really control how someone is going to interpret your message.
Best you can do is be open-minded to what other people have to say. Sometimes they will return the favor
and other times they will form an opinion based on a few words strung together. Stick around long enough and
I am sure I will offend you. :)
