Weird dreaming experience today

I don't think this qualifies as a "lucid dream" but I had the weirdest experience today. I have a habit falling asleep sitting down and I was sleeping today when I entered a state I've never had before. When I opened my eyes, there was a haze around me and when I closed them I started dreaming. Only I knew it was a dream. Has anyone ever had this "waking dreams" happen to them?
