What mindsets really are?

Time ago, in an italian forum about fan fictions, I was talking about writing and about my difficult to write stories (this is not an art related topic)
Translation is too long, so I've translated only the dialogue about mindset.

M. - (...) I think you're vincolated by certain mindset (...)
A.S. (Nordlys) - Everybody has mindset. You too. (...)
M. - Of course I do, but i don't need to remember them. They're natural, so natural that i don't need to write out them.
(sorry for poor translation, I tried to stay close to italian discussion)

Since i was little, people always tell me i have stiff mindset. I've tried to work on this, but for now i don't think i did much progress, or maybe just few people seems able to see my progress (ex my mom).
But what is really a mindset? I have mine, but everybody have a mindset (as i said), unless maybe does exist people without mindsets (i doubt). I think it's like a computer, if you install programs, you can do many things (Mindsets are a bit like programs, you can use them for work, and like when you use windows programs, you can find different creative solution if you want to do something new), but a computer without programs is just a machine where you can do very little things. And all people seems stiff in their mindset in a way or in another, especially because it's true i'm unable to understand M.'s way of think, but she also can't understand my way of thinks, and in another post she has assumed i act in certain way because I am arrogant.

That's very well said. I was thinking about mindsets all morning.
