Don't you want beat the freaking s**t out of those narcissists?

It has never happened to me. And yes, if someone whistled at me, my first inclination would be to look around for the dog....and then to beat the crap out of them....probably I'd just give them an incredibly dirty look though.

I live in Southern California, and apparently this is acceptable in Latino culture.

Personally, I feel deliberately insulted!

Dear Uprising, when I've reacted or said something about people doing this, I've been told that this is an acceptable way to get someone's attention, and that it is supposedly not offensive.
And that I should not consider it rude.

Perhaps that is an excuse for bad behavior?

Funny how you people have never been personally whistled at like that.

It really happens often down here, especially in brussels it's a common way to pick fights with someone or lead them their way so they can f**k them over.

There are lots of different kinds of whistles. There's the wolf whistle, which women get way too often, especially if they're out jogging or something like that.

There's the get-your-attention whistle acceptable among people who know each other in a friendly way--like if I got separated from my husband in a big store and saw him in the distance and wanted him to turn around.

And there's also a get-your-attention whistle which is not so friendly, employed by people with bad intentions to distract you while their comrades move in for an attack.
