Expertise in Law Enforcement???

I am working on a literary project and I need help in law enforcement procedures---from someone who knows a bit about it---basically what is the appropriate thing for law enforcment to do in this. The incident I am using involves a sheriff/ state patrol chase through a rural area and a town of a population of just under 5,000. There are a lot more details, but I will give you those if anyone wants to help me with this. We can take the incidents one step at a time---I really would appreciate help with this. I will be on and off the computer today, so if you post in reply and I don't answer for awhile that is why. But I will get back relatively soon. Thank you.

I have no experience in law enforcement but I've watched a lot of real-life police shows like Disorderly Conduct & I've also had conversations with my cousin who's a cop about different police precludes; he says he likes talking to me because I understand better than most civilians. I might know more than the average person here if you want to PM me that's fine but if anyone with experience offers to help you; they are probably more knowledgeable
