Reminder to everyone not to post the name you gave to your pet if you have used that name as your secret information to recover lost email passwords etc. A member recently had her account hacked by doing just that.

Indy, who was named after Indiana Jones because of his extreme curiosity. He was there for me more than my own father. He was a half stray, half persian cat that was deaf and fluffy. He was also so forgiving when I gave him a makeover when I was 3. Poor thing...

I used to have fish and then hermit crabs, but that was when I was very little and I didn't really take care of them. That was my dad's job. It wasn't until I got older and got a dog that I had an "official" pet, one that I shared a bond with and was responsible for.

I'm guessing that my very first pet was a dog...we always had a lot of animals at our house. My dad is most likely an Aspie too as there were dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, hamsters, & guinea pigs when I was little.

My first was an Angora rabbit, which for some reason I named "Sally".

My first pet was a shelter cat who was black with white speckles. In fact, the drive to go get him is one of my earliest memories.

My father bought a cocker spaniel puppy to "celebrate" my birth, which lost him quite a few husbanding points. I don't know if that counts as "my" first pet or not. My first pet while living independently was a cat.
