I must be missing something on facebook.....
I just don't get it. Why do people who I actually speak to on occasion in real life, and who I actually consider acquaintances and who I think might even like me even if just a bit, all of a sudden delete me from facebook. What am I doing wrong? I take a facebook deletion as a clear indication that the person no longer likes me anymore. I figure, if you see someone, speak to them, and like them, you wouldn't delete them off of facebook. I know some of you are anti-facebook, but I still use it, and I just don't get what I am doing wrong that makes these people dislike me so much. One girl I went to school with, she was in my class. We sat together, talked before class, then always walked together after class. Then, as soon as the class ended she deleted me. Why do people do this? It is not like I just met her either....we have had classes together for a couple years now. I am so clueless. Clearly, I repel people even online. ![]()

I think the main reason people delete others from their friends list is because of lack of communication with that person via FB. Either that, or they might feel that they don't know some people well enough to continue being their FB friend, hence why they delete them.

I have no idea why people will delete you. The people I have deleted from my account is because we are no longer friends or because I am not interested in what they post anymore. If you want you can add me and I can check your wallposts. My fb is ilka.zapata. Send me a message first to know its you.
A lot of people don't keep those they are in regular contact with on their facebook. A lot also try to keep their friends to people that they are very close to.
Also, they might have thought you just didn't like them and were merely being polite.

I don't know why they would. I can imagine someone doing it, if they got into a major fight with the person or something, but I kind of like to stay in touch with old friends through Facebook. If I don't like what someone is posting, I hide them, I don't remove them, because I don't want to hurt their feelings.
See, I don't get why anyone would hide someone. If you don't like what they're posting, then what's the point of them being there?

If you mouse over the left side of someone's post in the news feed, an x should show up. You click that and a drop down menu will show up. The option to hide will be there.

Most people seem to see Facebook as a popularity contest so have as many friends as possible, which makes removal all the more difficult to understand. Even if you don't have much interaction with someone or get sick of their updates, you can always just hide their updates from your updates wall, or change privacy settings to stop them interacting with you, rather than delete from your friends list.
Facebook and social networking as far as I'm concerned has social rules just like the real world - granted a little messed-up, but there are rules non-the-less - but it seems like it's perfectly acceptable to just remove people for some, where as for others it's as good as saying you don't like them any more if you remove them from your friends list *shrug*.
I've been removed by my ex boyfriend (which is sort of understandable, if a little pathetic), an ex-colleague who I was friends with (he may have deleted his account, or blocked me without reason), my boyfriends sister (she's a nut-job, apparently does this a lot as she deletes her accounts or deletes people due to paranoia), and my boyfriends cousin (he's one of these who deletes accounts all the time too).
I think for some it's clearing out their friends list, for some they may delete without realising who they're removing, some will go through phases of clearing out everyone but close friends and family, etc.

Are you sure they intended to delete you. As far as I know there was some kind of bug on there that deleted people. Also recently I deactivated my account then made a new one with the same name. There are about 100 people that may think I've deleted them when I haven't, I just can't find them, or in some cases, decided it was not really necessary to re-add them. Also, people do make deliberate clearouts leaving only friends that they actually interact with often, there's nothing personal about that

I have had a few people delete me from Facebook too like my brother's ex. But I wonder if it's those glitches that make you get removed from their friends? That does happen sometimes. If you are that bothered, you can always re add them as a friend with a message telling them "Hey I just noticed you weren't on my friends anymore so I don't know if you deleted me as a friend or if it was a bug that did it so if you did delete me as a friend, ignore this request." Or just send them a message asking them if they removed you as a friend and you noticed they aren't on your friends anymore.
Is there anything you post on your wall like do you post any rants or post anything like what you did in the FB games? Is there any groups you are in?
People delete people off their friends for lame reasons. One of the reasons is if they get so sick and tired of seeing what you did in your games on their news feed or they get tired of you posting your drama on there or they don't like the group you are in. Another reason is they want to actually chat to people on Facebook and if you never talk to them nor respond to their comments, they delete you.
Also some people close their Facebook account so they will disappear from your friends.
A big issue with facebook, in my opinion at least, is that people seem to have different limits to who they consider a 'friend' on there. When one person is unaware of another's limits and they are deleted or not accepted as a friend, there is the potential for hurt feelings and misunderstandings.
There are people who will literally add everyone, and there are people who will only limit it to their close friends and family. I have also noticed that people are getting pickier when it comes to adding friends.
I am thinking that the friends who have deleted you don't consider you close enough to be in their inner circle, which is how you would qualify to be accepted as their friend. While you consider aquaintances and people you say hi to now and then suitable for your facebook friends, they may not. It's not a bad thing either, they are just choosing to be more selective.
My advice? Don't take it personally. You can't be close friends with everyone, and I'm sure the people you were rejected by didn't mean for you to take it to heart, and they very likely have no ill feelings against you.

This misdiagnosis caused me significant stress, which lessened upon finding out the truth about myself from my current and past long-term therapists - that I am an anxious and highly sensitive person but do not have an autism spectrum disorder.
My diagnoses - social anxiety disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
I’m no longer involved with the ASD world.
Don't take it too seriously, people are very flippant about fb.
I know what you mean though, I was friends with this one guy on my team, and he had commented on some of my stuff and I was looking through the history a few days back and it was all gone. Of course I was sad, but then I realized, a fb frienship to NT's doesn't mean very much. So, I got over it, and went on with life though.

Maybe they see something they don't like about what you post on Facebook which changes their perception of you as a person. If they're unsure of you as a person in real life, something you say on Facebook might sway them to dislike you. It's shallow but I think that's the way some people think. If they delete you it doesn't mean they don't like you, they might just not care about you at all which isn't the same thing obviously. Some people reveal their utmost inner thoughts on Facebook and that can scare people who are just looking for something mindless to pass their time on with.
