First man 'functionally cured' of HIV

Just read a news article that said someone has been cured of HIV. He had leukemia also and received a bone marrow transplant from someone who was immune to the HIV virus. (Apparently 1% of Caucasian are immune...) The HIV disappeared. Cool? Cool.

I read the article, too. It is interesting. I never knew that any percent of the population was immune to HIV. I guess that's another reason why people should donate bone marrow.

People COULD donate bone marrow ... there is no "should" involved.

Oh, sorry, I didn't mean for it to sound like that. More like that's another reason to donate marrow, to encourage people to do it.

I think they only take it out of your hip, from the pelvis. I'd be willing to go through it, but no one wants marrow with drugs in it. Only way would be to go off my meds for maybe not even years.
