i wanted to make a thread to discuss & share interesting things about guns.. so voila.
please leave all politics at the door, if you dislike guns or are way too passionate about them & want to debate the various moral issues then take it to PPR
this thread is just for sharing an interest.. if that makes sense

The Smith & Wesson Model 29 is a six-shot, double-action revolver chambered for the powerful .44 Magnum cartridge, manufactured by the U.S. company Smith & Wesson. It was made famous by and is still most often associated with the fictional character "Dirty" Harry Callahan from the Dirty Harry
series of films starring Clint Eastwood.
The Model 29 was offered with 4", 5", 6", 6½", 8&3/8ths" and, later, 10&6/8ths" barrel lengths as standard models. Other barrel lengths were available either by special order from Smith & Wesson's Custom Shop or custom built by gunsmiths. The 5" barreled variant had a full length underlug. Finish options available included a highly polished blued or nickel-plated surface.

Deckard's cool blaster was made from parts of a Steyr Mannlicher .222 Model SL rifle with a Charter Arms .44 Special Police Bulldog on the inside to make the unique weapon he uses to dispatch foes.
i don't know what they did to it other than that though..

I always have had a special interest of Assault rifles.

I hope one day I'll be able to get one of the latest ones, whichever they may be then. Currently I'm drooling over the FN-SCAR H with full set of attachments (laser, light, ACOG, etc)

Reason I want one is for self defence, for those emergency cases (home robbery/fall of civilised society).

i like it, not as sexy as a Kalashnikov.. but i bet it kicks like a mule.
i want one, even if only just to maintain & look at.

It's brand new. US special forces are being equipped with it. And there's only one reason they are. They like it above everything else! Made in Belgium

any idea what version it is? as in, that shape model has been around for a while.. no idea how long but anyways, just curious.

kinda the 'nemesis' of the AK-47, although the US never used it as far as i know.. pictured is a paratrooper version, methinks

FN FAL is used by belgian troops if I'm correct.

The one I showed was the FN SCAR-H version. It has sub versions as well, such as long range modifications, close quarter combat (thats the CQC I believe on the picture), sniper version, etc.

probably, it (FN FAL) was apparently used by 90+ countries.. though fewer now i imagine.

i meant which incarnation it is.. if that makes sense. as you said that one was brand new so it couldn't have been that one that i had seen before.
was wondering what they might have changed/upgraded etc, not that i'l remember it all lol but interesting nonetheless.

Not sure what you mean, there's a few guns that have the same design (H&K 416, older scar that I cant seem to find and a few more that look alike).

The SCAR-H and SCAR-L (both new, one heavy, one light) are to replace the

- CQBR upgrade of the M4 Carbine(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CQBR)
- Mk 12 Special Purpose Rifle(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Sta ... pose_Rifle)

it's the design & that specific shape that was familiar.. nvm

definitely not any kind of M4 variant anyway.. it'll come to me & then i'll forget again lol
although the SCAR-H (Mk 17 Mod 0) sounds very familiar & obviously looks familiar so maybe it was just that, wiki says it's been in service since 2009.

either way, i won't be able to own them over here.. which is probably for the best.

In the mythbusters they showed that silencers are mainly used to decrease the recoil and kickback of the gun. Also they do very much lessen the noise if you are going to murder someone.

as far i know, silencers slow the bullet down to sub-sonic speeds. so no 'bang'

There was a little bang during the demonstration but alot less.
