Okay as I said in my other thread I am keeping my friend's cat for a little while. The cat is starring at me and has been meowing at me for quite a long time, I don't know what's wrong with the cat! It knows where it can pee, it did earlier, it is properly fed and has water so all the essentials are covered! What does the cat want from me? It's been like 20 minutes, non stop! The cat even follows me from room to room looking at me a meowing!

Maybe it just wants attention.

But it only started crying like that recently! Did I end up with a narcissistic cat? Or maybe the cat is hurt somewhere and trying to tell me it is in pain??? What should I do?

I dunno. You can try comforting the cat, or maybe play with it. Maybe it just misses its owner.

I have it on my knees right now and stroking its fur, it's cute but it keeps making noises and staring at me. It's nearly 4 AM and I am gonna have to sleep at some point...

The little bugger just wants attention and more food. Cats will eat till' they throw up. Whatever you do, DO NOT feed it until morning or whenever it's supposed to eat or else you'll spoil him/her. My cat does the same thing. He'll whine and whine until we feed him. For a short time we listened to his demands and he got fat. Now we only feed him once a day and he's perfectly healthy. But he still whines at us.

No I tried that she won't eat more, right now she's standing on my desk next to the computer... Still making noises, she jumped off my knees a while ago.

dont worry...she probably misses her owner. If she was hurt or not feeling good...she would want to be by herself and kinda sluggish and might even bite or scratch if touched.

It is true in some ways what the author said who wrote cats are autistic.
Cats dont like change at all and she will probably do that until her owner gets back. You can call her owner and find out the time she feeds her and certain things she does with her so you can do the same with her so she has something familar to grasp onto.

other than that, get some earplugs so you can sleep.

I woke up this morning with a meowing furball on my throat! I open my eyes and what do I see, the cat is sitting on my chest, its face barely 10cm away from mine! Meowing again!

She probably misses her owner and her house. Whenever my cat is alone, or thinks she's alone, like when my parents aren't home, and I'm in my room, she starts meowing, as well, until I bring her to my room, or stay with her in whatever room she's in. Cats don't really like change. When we moved, she meowed herself hoarse. She would sometimes sit next to the back door, and would stop for a while, when she saw the dog. He always likes to lie right next to the door, and he just kept doing that when we moved. I guess since that was something that didn't change, she felt a bit better. Eventually she got used to the new house, and stopped.

I think you have an odd cat. Cats normally self-regulate and don't eat more than they need.

I agree the cat probably just wants to go home and be with her owner.

He was being literal when he said the 'Cat will eat till it throws up' be careful to feed it in smaller portions. Also you can manipulate it to be more grateful to you that way. You don't have this problem it seems.
Many cats still in touch with their wild-side will try to eat as much at once to insure it can survive longer. It is a common phenomena. Especially wilder breeds like bengal if you have a F4 (fourth generation); it still has many tendencies like this one (eating till they drop).

Since this is not your cat, you probably have no toys for it. The best household toy for a cat to play with on its own; and this works better than real toys; is the ring of plastic under the a milk-gallon cover-cap. Just pop it off and throw it within that cat's awareness range.
However the cat is depressed, and probably won't play only if you are with it. So, it may take a while till it decides to play with the milk ring on its own.

If the cat's owner will compensate you for this, and this will work 100% gaurenteed, buy a Felaway cat plugin air freshener.

Felaway is a real research-proven pheromone cats respond to and will feel at ease around. Leave this plugged-in to your bed room (or where ever that cat hangs out most). It is sold at stores; you don't have to get it online.
