What do emu egg and velociraptor next to the user name mean?

I am new here, and don't understand that. I thought it was the name of the avatar. In this case, avatar is just the picture for your profile, right? I'm new to this whole discussion forum thing. Thanks.

They are post rankings. "Emu Egg" is the starters ranking. As you post more, your ranking changes, the highest ranking is "Phoenix", which you get at 500 posts. However, once you reach 1000 posts, you can put in your own ranking, like I did, for example.

And yes, your avatar is your profile picture.
