okely dokely. i am a bit of an anglophile in many ways but i have long suspected that my appreciation was incomplete as i had not yet tried Marmite. i would see the jars at the grocer's, hidden amongst the marmalade and peanut butter, but i was not so bold as to buy it. i bought a jar about a month or two ago, but i haven't been feeling adventurous until now.
there is one other reason i want to try it. according to the mighty Wikipedia...
Quote:
Marmite is made from yeast extract, a by-product of beer brewing.
... and that is surely a good thing.
so i need some advice as to how to test it in a way that will maximize the flavour possibilities. some things i happen to have around the house are white buns, whole wheat bread, soda and Ritz crackers, heavy pumpernickel rye bread, and Dutch crispbakes (toast). but i can always go to the store later and pick up something else to use if you have a suggestion.
i am open to trying it lots of ways, as long as i am not going overboard with buying ingredients. let me know if there is a better way to eat it than just spreading it on a bready base, or if there should be other ingredients involved as well.
