I love the very sexy Jewish men...especially the dark curly hair and large masculine noses(my boyfriend is Jewish although not from Israel, so I think it's OK to say that).

Sardonic note: The Uzi and the Desert Eagle were invented there. Also, apparently they are one of the most right-wing countries of the world without being facist. Plus if you desert from their army, and get caught, "bam!".

yeah, waterdogs...they were going to be our 51 state....but then we would lose a purchaser of weapons...might put a crimp in the profits of our weapons manufacturing (or have we out sourced all those?)

Israel is the only multi-decades running stable parlaimentary democracy in that part of the world and it is the only place in that part of the world with a first-world standard of living.

Also, Israeli Jews and Israeli Arab Muslim citizens get along just fine within the country (ie, in the Haifa area) and they all have full citizen voting rights.

I like all of the tall building construction that is going on in the Tel Aviv area (especially in suburban Ramat Gan), too. Almost like downtown Chicago in a way.

(I do sense a lot of envy from the rest of the Middle East being directed towards Israel)

All politics aside (yeah right): THE ISRAELI ARMY. Talk about a fighting example, guys. After centuries of persecution they build an uber-military. If only bullied kids could find inspiration there. Now if we could just get them to stop killing people, and have every other military follow suit...

It started out with good intentions I think. I wouldn't have wanted to be an early settler. They often dropped dead from malaria.

How can you be assasinated with a teacup? I am presuming, of course, that said teacup is intact and bereft of tea/coffee and poison.

Israel could be our inspiration for founding our own aspie homeland. The Jews were persecuted for centuries, yet they built up a modern country in just 50 years. We've been persecuted since God knows how when. Instead of being critical because CNN says we need to be, we can look to Israel for inspiration.
