I have looked at single holidays and they are extremely expensive .
I remember my first holiday being £160, five years ago. It was to
Marmerus Turkey and I booked it in a high street travel agent in
Croydon. I have looked online and the average price is £600+ pounds

Cost is a factor due to single supplements, whether for package holidays, or staying in hotels where you'll pay for a whole room yourself rather than splitting the cost with someone. A bigger factor for me, though, is that I've tried travelling alone many times, yet I've found I'm not a person who finds it much fun being on holiday alone.

As I had an interest in nightclubs in the past - amazing considering how much of a fish out of water I am in them - I booked a package holiday in Ibiza. This would be 10 years ago. On arrival I found I ended up on an Escapades holiday. Not what I wanted, but the travel agent had failed to tell me this. Did I look like the sort of person who'd go on an Escapades holiday?

I am sure this wouldn't apply to the flight costs etc. Because of limite choice with single holidays, it may work out cheaper booking a holiday for two. And dare the travel agent to put somone on that empty seat booked seat.

Probably isn't worth going on holiday. I seem to alway put it off. I feel it may be better when I improve on my social skills. Everyone in office seem to go on holiday very frequantly. Most go 3 time yearly. Everyone in office has someone.

Just like you, I feel like it is twice the cost, half the fun. There must be someting to work towards other then this.

Yeah....tell me about it. I've been gathering cans and bottles so I can take a holiday. You'd think that singles would get special rates.

The last place I went was Turkey. So I guess something like that.

In the ideal world when a cheap holiday comes, I would like an email to be sent to me.
All this active searching only return expensive holidays.

Holidays in general are expensive imo. Just traveling out of state in this country is expensive.

A flight from London to Casablanca (Morocco) is currently listed as $298 US dollars round trip flying in Iberia Airlines on sept 14 for 2 weeks.

Hotels and things to do is really something you need to look into and research... its your holiday so I wouldnt know what it is you like or want to do... or what dates you are traveling in.

I used to be a travel agent so here's what I can suggest you use as tools to find the cheapest fares:

Flights: Use www.kayak.com . Its a metasearch engine. Use this site to find the cheapest airfares on the dates you can travel in. do NOT book anything through this site. Go directly to the airline that pops up as the least expensive flight and book it with them (sometimes you can get even better specials from the airline).

If flexible, play around with the dates. Also, try to book your flights to leave and return on a tuesday or wednesday as these are usually the cheapest days of the week to fly in.

For hotels use big search engines like expedia, travelocity, etc... find the hotel you like and like with the airline.. call the hotel directly and see what prices you can get. Travel agencies usually only give you a better price if they are using a major wholesaler (bulk room purchaser) on low tourist season....which means usually never unless you're booking far in advance. Plus, if you book with the hotel directly you're practically guaranteed that room...booking it through an agency gives you a low but still present chance of the room not being there for you upon arrival.

and dont forget to visit the consulate website of the country you are visiting and find out if you need any vaccines or visa requirements... it sucks to get there and be turned back because you forgot that.
