I've been hanging around a friend too much, whose special interest is evolution. :D Because it's rubbing off on me.

When I think of relationships, dating and mating, for example, in terms of evolution, it's through evolution that I'm getting insights as to why they happen the way they do, which I've not previously cottoned on to. But that's really for another forum, the Love and Dating forum.

As for evolution in general, does anyone else have a special interest in it?

I have a massive special interest in evolution, mostly evolutionary anthropology. I am a lot like your friend, when I talk about human behaviour and dating and other social things I describe it like Desmond Morris (the famous zoologist that had that "human animal" documentary series.) I do like to explain it as if I was studying another species of primate instead of my own, to avoid the arrogance that is common in people when describing themselves. I find it rather fun to watch social interactions and pretend I'm on a nature programme.

@ iamnotaparakeet, only if you want one. If that is the case go to PPR.

Palaeontology, especially palaeobotany and geology and everything related. :thumright:

Evolution of plants, missing links, living fossils (ginkgo biloba), etc etc.

I believe more in creation, but if you believe the other way, I'm also cool with that. 8)

Even though science has never been one of my best subjects in school, I do find myself being fascinated with a number of scientific topics including, but not limited to, evolution.

Aside from evolution, I'm also interested in things like the Big Bang theory, certain psychological/psychiatric topics, sexuality, and, to an extent, geology.

This is one of those embarrassing things I never talk about... I used to be obsessed with it as a teenager. I collected books, videos, magazines, etc., on the topic, and then never actually read or watched them. Seriously, who does that? :? I am no more knowledgeable about it than the average person despite my obsession.

I didn't say I want a flame war, and I don't, but I think that it's inevitable. Feel free to prove me wrong, everyone who replies to this thread.

I asked a question to my teacher at school why isn't everyone black as it offers extra protection against the sun.
He have me a complexed answer which included being black required a supply of chemicals. He generally didn't
appreciate my question. Looking back, I thought it was valid question.

Strange this is, NTs have evolved the evolutionary advantage of not being able understand evolution.

I would call evolution a casual internet, not a hardcore interest. I have to be interested in the subject to be interested in its evolution. For example, I'm not much interested in animals and humans and therefore not much interested in their evolution, but if we're talking botany, I'd be interested in reading a book entirely devoted to, say, the evolution of carnivorous plants.

I've been intrigued by evolution for a while now. Science isn't my strongest area so I'd never be able to understand the complexities of genetic change and whatnot, but I'm particularly interested in the evolution and development of mammals at the moment.

Initiating flame war: That belief is nothing short of RIDICULOUS. It is absolutely and absurdly ignorant.
