Is your mom's maiden name the same as her married last name (your dad's)?

My mom has the same maiden name. But no, there is absolutely no evidence that my parents practiced incest. "Chan" (my last name) is a very common family name. Also, if my parents were close relatives, the guests to their wedding would have noticed that they were invited twice to the same wedding 8O.

Anyone else's mom have the same maiden and married name?

Nope it's not, this seems to be more common just coincidentally in Asian culture it seems.

Well, my mother's maiden name started with a d, which changes to an s when she married my dad. Now that she's remarried, it's a d again.

Well it is the most common last name in the world (I think). I also know someone who's a "Chan" on both sides.

It isn't a very common last name either.

Nope, I think american cultures have a lot of people with the same first name rather than last.

My mom's maiden name and my dad's last name could not be more different.

That goes to a Chinese name, but it's not "Chan." When I Googled it, I found "Zhang" (張, 张) as being the most common answer, but it was listed as the most common surname in the 90s, so it might have changed by now.
"Chan" is the most common surname in Hong Kong, though, and that's where jc6chan says he's from.

This is according to the data I saw, though, and it might be outdated.
Not sure.

But to answer the original question, my parents have different surnames; neither of them are common.

Never thought I'd see the day on wrong planet where someone creates a topic asking about incest.

Anyways, no. O_o
