Flip that around though. If you reverse the genders, it could also apply.

boys are born callous and uncaring and therefore have to develop "feminine" qualities as to become "better" or more "ideal" persons.

That would basically amount to a classically feminist point of view. Basically that males are rough stones that have to be polished. Which brings up early childhood socializing dynamics, role-model imprinting, in my mind...

I have a family member who really loves horse-racing. I'm wondering what's the best part that you love about horses... Me, I personally don't see the appeal.

@theprisoner:

The reasoning i mentioned( that women are born weak and have to be "strong" by acting tough, emotionless etc)is not my opinion, it's why i imagine most people easily hate female characters. So i am actually criticizing it.
I see it in fandom a lot, especially female villains are hated a great deal, while male villains get a free pass for doing the same things female villains do.

Im trying to think of beloved female villains, on the one hand you have Cruela Deville, cartoon, 101dalmations. Unquestionably hated.

But say IN Games of Thrones. You got a lot of sociopathic characters, Cerce fro e. A very sexy woman, but cunning and dangerous, yet I like her, partly sympathetic (could be libidinous interference there..lol).

I dont know if with two equally similar characters, the woman would be more hated, but socetal 'Double standards,' means you are probably right.

^ I think Game of Thrones fans were good in that aspect, except for maybe Sansa i don't think female characters were hated much.

Also those "weak" female character haters are mostly women, which also doesn't make sense to me. Some people are born outspoken, blunt some are not. Those people act like female characters can't have different personality traits and flaws.

Game of thrones has alot of female characters some weak, some strong, some noble, some absolute irredeemable.

Sansa from what i remember, is just so innocent, she gets toyed around with , everybody around her is so much more capable, she's pretty defenseless. I didn't find she was a villain, or deserve to be hated. Though objectively you could say she was 'weak.'

There was a lot of other way more objectionably character in that show. Geoffrey was weak, a coward, and he became a villain, power went to his head, he was probably the most hated, atleast to me.

I trying to remember the other characters, but it's been a while since I watched the show. The guy who was tortured by the psychopath. And bullied by his (Half?) sister. The manly looking warrior knight woman, and mr. severed hand, cerce brother (and romance interest lol .)

I actually never watched GoT even though i am familiar with a lot of characters because of how popular it was. My favorite was Daenerys.

Why on earth do we think emotions signify weakness?

I decided my handmade knitted blanket needed a wash
It came out twice the size, I swear.
And I was worried it would shrink in the wash.

Bonus! I'm going to guess your blanket looks like this but more brown colours.
