This might be too philosophical for Random. But if it was in PPR it would get bogged down in all kinds of daftness.
My question is, what is the point of life? As in, what do you think are the important aspects of being alive?
At the end of your life, will you look back and say, I'm so glad I focussed on that, or achieved that, or experienced that.
Or conversely, I'm so glad I avoided that, or didn't do that, or didn't get swept up by that.
This could relate to interests, career, sport, music, art, other people, children, family and so on. Whatever you think is important to you in your life.
For me. The point of life is to appreciate the beauty around us. To feel sensations and experience the natural world. To encounter humans and other animals and learn something from them, to maybe experience love or friendship. To listen to other people, and to listen to oneself, and try to understand something from that. To see the creations of other people, be that art or poetry or literature or music or simply their words in their day to day speech, and acknowledge them. To be a part of nature and creation (in the loosest sense of the word) and try to break down the boundaries that the mind and physical body place on us, that seperate us from other life.
Sorry if that's a bit wordy. Yours doesn't need to be so wordy (or it could be more). I'm just interested in what is important to you.
Wooooowwwwww, thankee Henbane as I believe that this is very beautiful. ^^ I beliee that I certainly agree with OneStepBeyond that there exists no intended purpose for life. ^^ Indeed, I believe that only conscious being may possess a concept of purpose and therefore life to have a purpose, and I believe that this life must be created by some consciousness. ^^ Therefore, I believe that although there may be a purpose for life, I also believe that this is highly probable that there exists intended purpose for life. ^^ Thus, I suspect that each individual may decide their purpose.
^^ I believe this is very lovely that you have written Henbane and I believe that the experiencing life is very beautiful. ^^ Also, I believe also that I enjoy understanding that my life is finite and therefore although enjoying life is very magical, I believe that I must be careful not to neglect others and ensure that I must try my best to allow others to be happy by helping them. Indeed, within the future times I shall not exist, whereas I believe that the results of my actions may indeed do so. ^^ By helping one individual, they may feel very happy and help another. If one helps another, the other may still feel very happy whilst the first individual is at rest.
^^Oooo, also, I believe that I enjoy attempting to ensure that Nell and Plato are very happy. ^^ I believe that they have been placed within my path, and I love them very dearly, and must do as I can to ensure they are happy.
I am very sorry if this is silly and horrible of me. I worry that I am very selfish.
No this is not silly or horrible or selfish of you, I think it is wonderful. x
My post was not really about whether or not there was an intended point to life, as I have no fixed view on a creator. My post was more about what makes life meaningful for each individual person. I was just looking to learn more about you, and where you find meaning in your life.
