Hey. I have a problem with my toilet. Waste goes down but even the smallest amount of TP won't. I'm befuddled. Every #2, I have to flush twice just to get the TP down.

I'm afraid my knowledge of plumbing is based mostly on the hours I spent playing Super Mario bros as a kid. I will, however, offer you this piece of advice. Plunge the s**t out of it, literally.

I don't know much about plumbing but I've seen my dad handle different plumbing issues including that one. I would suggest pouring a little acid in the toilet tank. There might be some waste stuck inside the pipe or toilet that acid might dissolve.

Get yourself a hand auger at the local hardware store/home center. Start it in the bowl and just hand crank it. You'll need one of a couple of feet to make through the trap. Hope nothing fell in that was flushed-- like a small toy from kids.

does the waterflow circulate or is it straight?

sometimes when the water circulates there is not enough energy to pull it all out... (hope this gives any meaning!!)

the circulation can be caused by several factors:

1. the toilet is not mounted level...
2. the rim at the top that is supposed to distribute the water is clogged and need cleansing, making the water distribute unevenly

hope this helps.

btw... i am no plumber... just a stupid aspie that has wondered why this has happened on a toilet in our house... and then investigated it...

we're just going to get a new one. This one's old and the enamel on the inside of the bowl isn't there anymore.

My father-in-law never kept up with the house and we're left trying to fix and replace everything.

Agreed. I had the same problem at the last house I lived at and I just used a snake and it cleared it out. Nasty as all hell though but it worked.
