I hate mothers day

I had toxic parents and am fortunate to have survived. I don't like this day. I don't like being reminded of being a child and being that vulnerable in a bad situation. That is all...

My mom died recently of Alzheimer's. This year is actually somewhat less awful than when she was alive and resembled a Walking Dead zombie in both appearance and behavior.

Mothers day just passes me by. I never really had a mother and even though I am a mother myself, we don't celebrate it in our house.

Mother's Day only reminds me of all that's gone wrong between my mum and I over the past 5 months and the bad memories of my childhood that have been dug up as a result. However, I am at my parents home and I am celebrating the occasion. I'm just waiting for her and the other females in my family to get back from Costco so that we can get the celebration started.

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person here who anything positive to say about their parents.

I'm sorry that you don't all have a good relationship with them, but it makes me feel bad and guilty just because I bought my mom a gift and a card and some treats that she really liked and showed my thankfulness to her. I even gave her a hug and a kiss when it was time for me to go!

I am not a fan of Mother's Day, The person who spearheaded the creation of Mother's Day later renounced it for its commercial takeover.

I spent today with my family, and sent my mom the appropriate FB message.

I don't like Mother's Day either. It's just a day where I'm "supposed" to treat a parent better than they ever treated me. And if I dare to verbalize my hatred, I will be shamed for not loving mum enough.

My mother died when I was young, and I don't have any kids (I tell people I have fish if they ask), so Mother's Day has mostly just had awkwardness/awkwardness-potential for most of my life.

I never had a close relationship with my parents & we had lots of fights when I was a kid & teen. They're not big on celebrating holidays, birthdays & other occasions like Mother's Day. When I was little, my dad helped me come up with something for Mother's Day & my mom helped me come up with something for Father's Day but as I got older those occasions became something we didn't really celebrate with each other besides saying Happy whatever the day was. The main reason I've been doing anything for those occasions sense I moved in with my girlfriend is because of my girlfriend. We pick out the card(she does the looking & I just tell her I like it or not), she writes stuff in it & I just sign it, & she reminds me to call em on that day.
