Language or senses?

If you had to choose between language (in any form--spoken, written, signing, visual symbols, even thoughts in the form of language) or your senses, which would you choose? You'd give up one of them entirely and keep the other.

I haven't decided my answer yet...

I often feel that I don't do much communicating anyway, so I guess it doesn't seem like that big of a deal to me. I think it might actually be freeing. But I guess it's deal-breaking for everyone else. Ah, well. :shrug:

I have actually thought that if I did lose something it would be speech. I have been without speech when I would get these colds years ago and I was able to communicate fine with gestures.

Do you mean you'd give up language?

I'm leaning towards giving up language myself, because language isn't a huge part of my thoughts. Not having to worry over it would relieve a lot of stress. :lol:

Yea, that's what I meant. It would, but....I'd dislike being trapped in my own mind....but at least I'd feel more alive.

Definitely. I don't think I'd care if I never had to speak again.

@Fear: I meant taste/sight/smell/touch/sound. Sorry for the confusion. :-)

Agreed, except, I'd be sad if I had to lose ASL...that's why it was a tough decision for me.
