does anyone have this? it's compulsive skin picking.

I do this all the time, on my arms and stomach, and have done it since I was 12 or 13. I am 30 now. my stomach and arms are covered in scars but I can't stop myself. sometimes I do it without even realizing I do it. I think it has a lot to do with feeling 'imperfections' on my skin, and I pick them off. and the imperfections thing keeps the picking going because I have the imperfection of the scab now, and that simply has to go.

anyone like this too?

I had something like that when I was a kid. I had extremely bad skin-eczema as a kid; Atopic Dermatitis. I scratched a lot because I itched but scratching also became a compulsive habit that I would do without even realizing it & when I got frustrated or stressed; I would scratch till I bled. The eczema got better as I became an older teen & I learned to do other things with my hands like playing with ink-pens, paper-clips & other things instead so my hands would be too occupied to scratch. I fiddle with things in my hands a lot & I sometimes scratch when I don't itch & am not frustrated or anything out of the old habit if I'm not focused on anything a lot & my hands don't have anything to play with.. I think scratching may be kind off a stimming thing

Yeah, I'm a bit like that. I have eczema too (although it is 99% cleared up right now, and I can't even describe how happy that makes me :D ) I would peel and pick at it because it itched and because it was ugly and I wanted it to go away. I pick at any sort of pimple or bump or scab. I'd say it got to obsessive levels when I had chicken pox in 6th grade 8O I still have scars from that. I pull out arm hairs I think are getting too long, which is kind of odd because I have very fine blond hair on my arms.

I have acne and I compulsively pick at it. My right shoulder is almost completely covered in scars from doing this. I have also gotten an infection from it before. My face thankfully doesn't scar very often, but whenever I have a breakout, it looks pretty rough from all the scabs on it.

I'm not sure why I pick. I do know that I'm more prone to doing it whenever something is troubling me though.

I used to pick at scabs when I was REALLY young because I feel down a lot from running around and being clumsy.
