For those who read my "If I found out I was adopted" thread...
I have poor self-control. Sometimes, when I talk about something I'm interested in, I get really defensive if people started nitpicking. As a child raised by his biological parents, I had little understanding of not only what it is like to be adopted, but what it means. People do strange things to come to terms with something. I read adoptee's stories, adoption poems, quotes, etc. while listening to "Purple Rain", "Bohemian Rhapsody", Eric Serra's "The Experience of Love" (from the soundtrack for GoldenEye) and the Forrest Gump theme. The response was immediate. I realized that all the negative stereotypes about adoption were not 100% true. Not even close.

Through those poems and quotes, I saw the love.

To hell with biology.

I'd be glad, if I found out, that I was adopted. :)

I don't think I would be here in a stable state if I found out that I was adopted... I know for sure I would feel devastated to the point where I might eventually end up having a mental breakdown.

None of my brothers are biological. My older brother is really my half-brother and my two younger brothers are adopted. Two of my cousins are adopted along with my grandmother. Also, my best friend(who is basically like my brother because my mother takes care of him more than his adoptive mother, who's abusive.) is adopted. I'm so used to adoption that i wouldn't really care. The only bad thing is that you usually know ver little about your heritage.

I would be happy to find out I was adopted. I used to fantasize about it.

I was adopted at birth, but was brought up with the knowledge so it would never be a sudden shock to discover it. I don't think it really registered until I was around 5 years old what it actually meant anyway. I did feel somewhat miserable for a while. I also had lots of fantasies about why I'd been adopted - my adoptive parents hadn't been given that information for confidentiality reasons. It wasn't until I was in my early twenties that the law changed on anonymity in England and I was allowed to find out who my natural parents were and the reasons for my adoption.

When I was little I used to think I was adopted because I didn't seem to fit in with my family at all. Now, I think I'd probably be a bit upset that I wasn't told.

Normal sibling rivalry. I used to tell people my older brother was adopted.

I would be kind of pissed that nobody bothered to tell me, but otherwise I would be fine. My parents are my parents - they raised me and they love me and whether or not they actually gave birth to me seems kind of irrelevant.

It would hardly bother me. I am not emotionally affected by people based on genetic similarity. Knowing that my whole life I had been lied to would mean I'd feel betrayed but I'm used to betrayal.

I felt the same way, as a child. Especially around the age of 12. I thought that I was adopted, because I didn't fit in, with my family, I loved all things British and I have an accent, that my parents hated, at one point.

I really wouldn't care. It wouldn't change anything about me.
