I'm not sure if this belongs here or in Random Discussion, but I've noticed that a lot of people with Asperger's syndrome relate with the characters from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, particularly Twilight Sparkle, Fluttershy, and Pinkie Pie. So my question here is which pony do you feel is the most likely to be autistic or that you relate with the most?

Hey, Fnord. That Sherlock Holmes topic doesn't seem so silly now, does it?

I got all excited, thinking that scientists had discovered that horses could be autistic.

There not human, I guess they sort of already might be autistic in a way.

So this should have gone in Random Discussion forum, or is it just silly or what?

Twilight Sparkle, definitely.

Cool to see that I'm not the only fan around here.

I thought this thread was going to be about pony therapy for autistic people...kind of like the already existing horse therapy. I voted for Fluttershy, I'm most like her. Love MLP:FIM too. :D

I watched the original MY LITTLE PONY and always identified strongly with Wind Whistler, Galaxy and North Star. :)

What's with My Little Pony Friendship lately? Is the show popular or what and why?

I keep hearing about it on a none autism forum too.

None of them. They are all too socially astute.

I suppose an awkward, bookish type of character could fit into the show just fine, though. That would be nice.

League_Girl--it's a pretty typical trend of the sort you see in NT society all the time. This one makes some kind of sense, though, because the show is well-made and entertaining even if you aren't a little kid. Its popularity was probably due initially to its quality, but after that just due to the snowball effect.

I've seen a couple of episodes, and if it weren't for my general dislike of sitting still long enough to watch a TV show, I would probably be a casual fan. I'm one of those adults who refuses to leave behind "kid" things. Especially, in my case, kids' books. Some of the best books ever were written for kids. Chronicles of Narnia, anyone?

It's a surprisingly good kids show. It has references to the internet and tv shows (I.E Dr "whooves" and chocolate rain.)

None of them. They're freakin' cartoon ponies. Aspects of their personalities are supposed to be exaggerated, just like every other fictional character. That's why everybody always picks out characters they reckon are autistic, because they recognise and empathise with those exaggerated personality traits.
You could diagnose every character with a mental disorder if you tried hard enough. And it really bugs me when people try.
