One year ago today, I was evacuating from Hurricane Rita. It took 19 hours to get from Houston to a small town 100 miles to the north of Houston. Rita made landfall at the Texas-Louisiana state line.

I used to live in Houston. Actually, I was born there, too! But for the six years I lived there, we never got any exceptionally severe storms. They seem to be a lot worse there lately.

You're from Houston? Cool!

The biggest storm I ever went through was Hurricane Alicia, back in 1983. I was 3 years old at the time. It was a Category 3 storm, and the power was out for 2 weeks.

Then in 2001, Tropical Storm Allison dumped 40 inches of rain and flooded most of Houston. My neighborhood was one of the few that did not flood.

Yep, I'm from Houston! But we moved here to Indianapolis back in '95. But I do go back to see my city every year. We lived just south of Tomball when I did live there. Lucky for me, I wasn't alive in 1983 and I wasn't there for 2001 (I went to Europe that summer instead). Anyway, the storms here are really bad, too. We had tornadoes week after week last spring. We also got an extremely bad hail storm and another one two weeks later.

A year ago today, my Mind and my mood were very dark. I was always flying off the handle at somebody, about something. My only hope was to put an end to the anger, by becoming a Flower Child. The only problem was that I was too angry to do that. I've felt that I was being treated like a Child, though I was turning 31. It was as though my Cockney Spirit was on Vacation.

Today, I'm in the Cockney Spirit and it's stronger than it ever was. I've allowed myself to show my true colours of Routemaster Red and Classic Black and that's enabled me to enjoy the best Summer that I've experienced, since the Year 2000! I'm just comming out of that Summer and I have a Natural High, just looking back at the memories. This was also the first Summer that I've allowed myself to wear the colours of the Union Flag, in two years in honour of my differences and the Routemaster. I'm wishing that my Summer could last, but it can't last forever.

One year ago today for me? Hmm... Uh, I was fifteen? Oh, I know that FOUR years ago today I came up with my story! Very, VERY important date for me, and yet I've forgotten it... Oh well!

cold by not knowing any better

My life's major turning point is just over three weeks from one year ago today.
On that day, I will share my story with you all.

Since I know that everything thus far will culminate in a week-long meeting at the beginning of next month, my story is still being written and is not one that can be shared today.

I was probably doing pretty much the same as I am now.
