Well, I don't have access to a (good) doctor at the moment and I'm having some issues with the meds I'm taking.
I tried looking things up and talking to people but nothing seems to be doing any good. I've even been to the ER multiple times and everyone is clueless.
I have pain that migrates all over my body in seemingly random places. Also, unless I get a good nights sleep, I now experience terrifying sleep paralysis. It literally feels like I'm shutting down when it happens. I mean, this is a hard core medication so I just don't want to think nothing of this. I have other side-effects but I was told that they were nothing to worry about.

Google is your friend (so is a good spelling checker)!

Link --> Risperidone

Risperidone (Risperdal) is an anti-psychotic medication used to treat mental illnesses including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and irritability associated with autistic disorder.

Link --> Risperdone (Wrong Spelling)

Risperdone is a common misspelling of Risperidone.

Not a doctor, and I don't know if this is scientifically true (proven, I mean), but it seems like people on the spectrum can be more sensitive to the parkinson's-ish effects that certain drugs (like Risperdal) can have.

I.e. people with parkinsonism (the effects of Parkinson's, not that the drug causes Parkinson's) can have dystonia, where, basically, muscles end up pulling against each other in an unnatural way. Also, people with parkinsonism can have trouble moving, so that they move slowly, or even freeze like a statue. It is my understanding that those effects normally don't happen with anti-psychotics unless high doses are used, though. And, again, not a doctor, so all this could be completely unrelated to the pain and paralysis you're having. But you could look up "dystonia" and "parkinsonism" and see if they seem to fit.

If you're on a medication like this you need to be under the care of a competent doctor.

I haven't taken it, but I've taken similar meds, and the side effects need to be well monitored.

Who is prescribing this for you, if it's not a doctor?

Getting advice from people on the internet is unlikely to help you. Good luck though.

There are websites that will tell you about medications and side effects.

Well... Normally I call it Risperdal but you know what I mean. Anyway, I have a doctor, it's just that he's been ignoring me lately and I'm moving out of the city soon so it's time for a new one. Back when he wasn't ignoring me, he couldn't explain the pain or sleep paralysis - he's kind of a dumbass. My jaw tends to tighten a lot but I was told that's a normal side effect, along with confusion, tremors and sexual dysfunction.
I did vaguely look up some sites about the drug, just didn't see anything about the pain I was having or sleep paralysis. It's a bad habbit of mine, asking people for answers instead of looking it up myself :roll: I know, I know. Sorry.
Also apparently the dose I take every night isn't that large... Only 1-1/2 mgs.

I take 3mg of risperidone, side effects are throat spasms (Tardive dyskinesia) and aggressive behaviour. Tardive dyskinesia is a serious side effect and should not be ignored, due to the possibility of choking when eating because of throat spasms. Remember that risperidone is used to control psychotic episodes, if it does not suit you stop taking it under medical care and request a tricyclic such as anafranil. Your doctor isn't ignoring you he is down playing the side effects, because you are probably obsessing about them, which is why risperidone is prescribed.
You are not being treated for autism/asd, because there is no med for autism/asd. however you have the right to refuse meds which are not effective, for meds which are correct for you.
Psychosis is given to the more severe forms of psychiatric disorder, during which hallucinations and delusions and impaired insight may occur. like me you may not realise the delusion (sleep paralysis) is unreal.
I hope this helps in some way,but for those with psychosis seeing the real is very difficult.

Thanks for the reply. My doctor is however in fact ignoring me, I've been trying to contact him for months and I've never heard back.
My meds have made reality very clear for me and my sleep paralysis only happens when I don't get a good night sleep. When it first happened I was really scared and told as many people about it as I could and eventually found out what it was, and that it was "normal". So I really don't think it could possibly be unreal. Like I said my meds are working very well for me.

Another thing that's happening is my heart doing something "unusual" (can't describe it) and it causes me to cough. I was told it's normal if I'm stressed out, but just recently it happened when I at least think I was feeling just fine. Maybe it's another side effect?
