OK this has got nothing to do with autism (which is why I posted it in random discussion) but I was just wondering if this was only a myth. I stayed round my boyfriend's house the other night, and he had loads of baked beans for his tea, but he didn't do one fart all evening or night, and he's the type to not be ashamed of farting in front of me and he doesn't do quiet farts either, and I would have known anyway, since he laughs all the time when he does fart. And I noticed I don't even fart after eating them either.

I was just wondering, is it really a myth? I know I see it written in a lot of magazines what give advice for dieting and other food-related things, but seriously, I think it's some sort of a myth. Do you?

 No, it's not a myth. If you eat them often you can sort of become immune to them. xD

Is right. We eat them all the time in our house.

Doesn't work the same way with beer though. ;)

Just don't eat rice and drink beer.

Also it is possible to remove the "flatulence" from beans if you pressure cook them.

As a vegetarian, I eat beans all the time and am not gassy.

when i was a little kid in elementary school, i had some chilibeans with cheese, and they didn't agree with me. the next day, on a cold winter's morning, i boarded the school bus, which had the windows closed and the heater up front blowing warm air backwards. my emissions began and within a minute the guy behind me barfed all over the place. the combined smell of my emanations and his barf stank up the bus, and soon windows were opening left and right. it soon got cold inside and the bus driver shouted at us, "close those goddamned windows NOW!" so we closed 'em. but then my emissions continued, somebody else barfed again, the wafting heater currents made the smell rise again and soon the bus driver sneered and shouted at us, "OPEN those god damned windows NOW!" after we disembarked at the school, i was asked by some other kids, "what in the HELL did you eat last night?!" and when i told 'em, they moaned "aw christ, no wonder!" My experience says it is not a myth.
