I recently looked up images of inside a slaughterhouse, and I saw how meat was really prepared. Ever since then, I am disgusted by the thought of eating meat. I am now a vegetarian. Ever since I became one, I have been having these strange dreams, which usually involve a plate of fried chicken, my favorite meat since before I was a vegetarian. I see myself in the third person, like watching yourself on a TV show. I stare at it, and I become very appetized and hungry. Eventually, I say something along the lines of "Screw it." and I eat the chicken.
I do not find chicken appetizing in the conscious world, and I have more than enough protein in my diet. Why do I have these annoying dreams?

I have no idea (personally, I think dreams are the excreta of the brain), but if you look up images of battery chicken farms that may cure you.

Congratulations on your decision...You are right ,the meat industry is really disgusting and cruel...I haven't reached your will power or spiritual evolution yet...I am a rabid omnivore  ....I think your dreams are just your unconscious way of dealing with the change...I think they will become less often the longer you go without meat....(I really think it is in our animal nature to consume meat,so your unconscious..."lizzard brain" has not caught up to your intellect...I think it will,if you are patient but may not completely go away)I quit drinking alcohol almost 17 years ago and I still have occasional dreams about being drunk even though I never want to drink again...but less then when I first stopped.

I also know what goes on in those hell-holes.

I used to have the chicken dreams far more often 3 years ago, but now they happen once a month at the most.

I see you are new here.

I had a sparing match with tubbychef (unfortunately she left).

you may find this interesting (and see who is sympathic with vegetarians and who isn't).

Don't worry about it.

As it is not real chicken it doesn't in any way compromise your position as a vegetaian.

When I've given up vices, I often dream of resuming the habit months or years afterward. I quit smoking cigarettes for example 10 years ago. It's been a few years since I dreamt of smoking. It was always like, "Oh s**t, smoking again?! How did that happen?!"

something i learned just after learning about AS and such....

there is an autistic woman (i forget her name) who wrote a book about ways to actually improve the quality of life for animals at slaughter houses... that is to say, make their last moments more peaceful (?)

not saying all houses employ these methods...

but it's a book i have on my to-do lists. it came about because she's always apparently had this talent for understanding how animals think.

My Diet doesn't allow me to eat battered food and I have a Fried Chicken Dream, about once a month. I ask myself why I would dream such a thing, when I wake up. I find it very strange.

Dreaming of our desires fulfilled is common. That's why young guys, and probably girls too, have so many sex dreams. It's probably carthartic.

I never understood why so many slaughterhouse workers give the animals a slow, painful death. Couldn't they just chop off its head? That would be more quick and painless. Is there like some unwritten rule saying "Make these animals suffer, no mercy-killing!" Maybe slaughterhouse bosses only hire sadists to work? :?:

It's tradition and religion at it's worst.

Hypocritical coming from a meat eater<-----It always amazed me that torturing and killing an animal is a sign of pathology in people who end up being seriel killers but when people do it in mass numbers it is called ...A job....I actually feel sorry for the people who feel they have no other job choices...it must really suck to be them.....I THINK I would be a vegitarian if I had to kill the animals....?Hunting them to prevent over population seems more human but even that would be hard for me.

It's an "honour" to kill people too, if the government commands you to do so...

I'm a meat eater as well but I couldn't work one day in a slaughterhouse. Maybe I could kill them with a rifle out in the free and then skin and chop them up, but I could never do it like I was part of a machinery...
