What the hell is up with the ridiculous plethora of dumb, stupid, annoying ads this holiday season?????

I have never wanted SO BADLY, to put some double ought buck shot right through my screen!

I SWEAR this year is worse than any other. What the hell makes these a**hole marketers think that garbage will make me want to shop at their stores?

EDIT: Since several users thought I meant Internet ads, let me clarify: I'm taking about TV ads. No adblock for that! Thank god I have a mute on the remote though! I do love my Magnovox too. Auto volume helps, but it's not enough.

I've seen a lot of those ads on Firefox. I switch back and forth between Firefox and Chrome because the speed on Chrome is faster, yet the themes for Firefox are better. I've seen so many of those stupid ads on Firefox today that I can see them when I close my eyes. The worse part is that there isn't an Ad Block that's compatible with the latest version of Firefox, yet.

I use Chrome. Make my computer change from a snail to a sloth.

MrXxx, it's no different in Old Blighty. The M&S advert (yuck), the various food supermarkets (eeeuughh) and even John L*wis this year is completely sickmaking. I can only speculate why it may be worse this year, other than the fact that things like that feel like they're getting worse each year anyway but I think that's called 'middle age'! !

It's worse here this Xmas because of the credit crunch/financial meltdown/austerity measures/imminent Eurozone collapse. People really have been tightening their belts financially, paying off their credit cards etc so retailers are sh*t scared that people won't do what they normally do at Xmas namely throw caution to the wind and have a big blowout, and worry about how to pay for it in January.

The UK has no manufacturing left to speak of, so apart from the City and the service sector internal consumer spending is pretty much what keeps the economy going, so the adverts are suggesting things like "keep Xmas special", ie buy a load of overpriced tar for the kids, stick it on your plastic and eat &drink yourself into a stupor to rescue the British economy.

They've always been moronic. It doesn't matter to them, because either way they'll still get loads of morons to come buy everything.

Adverts? What are they? Ah the bliss of Adblock plus and Firefox. :P

I haven't paid any attention to the ads. They're always stupid.

The Go Compare adverts really get on my nerves, I don't know if they realise that everyone hates them or whether it's intentional to get you to remember the company but... HATE those adverts...

Sorry. Should have been more specific. I'm talking about TV ads.

Where I live, the official song of Halloween should be "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas"

My jaw dropped the other day when I saw a BJ's Wholesale Club ad. A mom comes on the screen and says, basically, "Well, I have a BJ's card {holds it up to the camera} and a Visa card {holds it up to the camera}, so Christmas is all set!" I could not believe the audacity and bad taste of that blatant commercial.

I'm going to have to watch TV to see just how bad the ads are.
