A new forum for aspies has recently been launched, and everybody, who is at least 18yo is welcome to join.

It's an unmoderated board that is mostly about banter and general discussion, rather than AS advocacy.

WP will probably always be the main forum for advocacy issues, but if any of you feel like spending a little bit of time in an environment where AS is not a main topic of conversation, and where there are almost no rules to what you can post, then please drop in and say hello.

And to Alex and the mods. If you fancy hanging out somewhere where you don't have any responsibilities, and you just want to be yourself, then you would also be very welcome to come along.

Free hosts are fail. SMF is fail. Totally unmoderated forums all go to s**t within 5 minutes of being opened (and can never actually be unmoderated either - I mean, if someone posts illegal s**t, you either take it down or go to court).

I'd like to see a new forum which is more relaxed than WP but still moderated to help bring about a fair amount of decency between members. I'd start it myself but TBH my forums always start off really popular then die after a month (which is what I predict will happen to this one, FYI).

Still, good luck I guess. Get a real host and domain though.

TBH I'm not the person setting up the site, and I know nothing about the subject, but I'm sure he said it was paid for hosting. I might be very wrong though.

The site is simply a subdomain of http://www.smfnew.com/ which is a free host.

[Moved from General Autism Discussion to Random Discussion]

Because: "It's an unmoderated board that is mostly about banter and general discussion, rather than AS advocacy."

It's being paid for (they do paid hosting too, you know). A domain will be in order once things get going.

As for moderation, there is a mod but his only purpose is to clean up spam and to notify if people are breaking TOS. Apart from that it's pretty open.

It's up to you whether you want to join. Whatever floats your boat.

OK, if you're on paid hosting that's fine. It's just that purely free hosts have unreliable service and often randomly shut down. But if you've got proper paid hosting you're all good, as long as the site is reputable. And a proper domain is important if you want to be taken seriously, so I'd recommend doing that ASAP.

Ahh, so there is a TOS. The OP made it sound like it was completely unmoderated. An open forum with limited moderation is a different thing, and those work fairly well if you can get members to say on your site after the initial month of registration (which is harder than it sounds).

Indeed, I might join at some point. Whether or not I do, though, I wish you luck.

Sort of, it's an offshoot of it so to speak. The name "spasticity" is really "spastic" and "intensity" combined, the former being part of "autistic spazz", which is a term we use affectionately for each other on forums like i2 etc.

I think it's a spinoff.
