Does anyone know where I can learn about the long term effects of giving plasma regularly? I lose my health insurance, which is Medicaid, next October, and am unsure if I can reapply. (I am losing it on account of "aging out" of the foster system.) If there are any long term effects, I should stop now. Every time I sell my plasma, they make me sign a statement saying I consent to the return on my red cells (after they separate it from the plasma). That tells me that selling my plasma can be risky, I just have no idea where to look.

Long-term effects? A little scarring, perhaps.

I used to sell plasma until I learned that the $10 per unit the gave me for my plasma was nothing compared to the $400 to $500 per unit they charged patients in the hospital. Why couldn't I just donate directly, cut out the middle-men, and pocket the difference? But no, that was not permitted, even though exploiting me for someone else's personal gain was. So the long-term effects for me include not selling my plasma any more.

Certificate of Completion in Phlebotomy

An accredited phlebotomy training program includes at least 42 hours of classroom training and 120 hours of clinical experience. Students complete courses in subjects such as anatomy, physiology, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, medical terminology and health care law. Clinical experience is obtained through assignment at various training sites, where students are supervised by experienced technicians.

They are Psychoanalysis 101, people are irrationally innately. You go there and you will leave ashamed this is what people do when they have a phlebotomy certificate.

Lets have some perspective here.
42 hours of classroom time to become certified<---------> 42/8= 5.25 days to become certified/ to apply at a Plasma Center/ realistically it says 3 months.
Then 120 hours of clinical experience AKA Donor tech experience<---------> 120/40= 3 working weeks experience.

Anatomy and Physiology<---------> It takes an Undergraduate student 16 weeks to gain 3 credit hours in this Course at a University. 16 weeks times 6 hours equals 96 hours of class and lab time. In the 1 undergraduate class they do more than the phlebotomist accumulated class times. They have to take 1 credit hour and I think it said which came out to 15 hours total. People with 1 chemistry course take more class hours in 5 weeks.

All of these I guess equals an OMNISCIENCE DEGREE also. The point I'm making is they think they are god because they have a Phlebotomy degree and half of the stuff I can read on about.com

They call your name, I guess they have an inside joke but they say I recognize you from somewhere...hmmmm Where can you recognize a human from. I guess the 15 hours of Anatomy and physiology amounted to GOD complex. These guys are losers.

To make a comparison, I spoke to someone there who had a Degree, I spoke to someone who didn't, guess who made the joke.
