He solved the Poincaré conjecture, one of the millenium prize problems.

Just scroll down to the "The Fields Medal and Millennium Prize" and "Possible withdrawal from mathematics" sections. His talk of conformity and such, his reasons for refusing prizes etc, it chimed with me, seemed pretty aspie like?

I don't know, but he's my hero. I sometimes visit "forever alone" on Reddit and used to visit the "a lonely life" forum. Everyone there agrees that the only reason to be alone is lack of confidence or lack of skills. I just point to Perelman and say "no, sometimes people are just different." Now maybe he does not want human company, but in that case why does he live with his mother?

I find his dedication and his attitude inspiring.
