.. I will kill everyone who responds to this thread with "Happy birthday!"

In other news, I am unsatisfied with how the day's going. It's not bad, per se, but I EXPECTED something more than neutral. I blame everyone else except me. They are the ones who are too poor to let me have a good time.

Might as well give this thread a purpose. What do you think is the most important birthday year? 16th birthday? 18th? 21st (To drink? :D )? 100th, even?

Oh, and if you guys wanna send me moniez via paypal for my birthday, go ahead. I won't object. 8) 'Specially the few on here who are rich.

I turned 16 a couple of months ago; I didn't really feel anything special... probably because I didn't get my driver's license (because I don't even have my permit yet... lazy.) I think 16 is a big milestone because of the driving thing; at least in the US.
18th and 21st are also supposed to be pretty big... I haven't experienced those so I can't really comment any further. :P

I never felt 16, 18 or 21 were very significant for me. I am dreading 30 though :? :(

Wow, you sound like a spoiled brat. Blaming everyone for not having enough money to lavish you with expensive gifts (especially during a recession) so you can have a "good" birthday is incredibly egotistical. Isn't it enough just to know that your friends and family love you and are thinking about you? I'll tell you something that my dad told me once when I was your age: the world does not revolve around you. Even if I were wealthy, I would not send you any money via Paypal. I have better things to spend it on than teenagers who think they deserve the world on a silver platter. And don't worry - I won't wish you a happy birthday. You don't deserve to have one, not until you learn to appreciate what you already have.

I think you're right (minus, you know, the condescension.) But good point.

Dear Idaho Rose, Wow! You are always such a sweet person, I didn't know you even HAD a temper! And, may I say, you are quite articulate and 'to-the-point' when you are indignant; I wish I had your focus and clarity. I unfortunately rant and rave and generally behave (verbally) like a Tasmanian Devil on meth when I get really mad. And make about as much sense. Anyhow, well said.

And 'Happy Birthday', Artemis Holmes. Go ahead and try.

I was going to say something along the same lines. You should learn to appreciate the things that you have. I wouldn't send you any money if I had a Pay Pal account. I'm not rich by any means and I make just enough money just to get by. We're going through a recession right now. A recession that could easily turn into a depression. What would you do, if these were The Dirty Thirties and we were going through The Great Depression? You wouldn't be able to make it, because you think that money and status are the most important things in the world. I'd be able to make it, because I'm conditioned to be a working class hero. Crappy Birthday! :(

I'm sorry, but I had to get this off my chest and I shouldn't have deleted it in the first place.
